The Pallekele International Cricket Stadium [1] is a cricket stadium in Kandy. The ground staged its first Test in 2010 Sri Lanka against West Indies. [2] The first One Day International was played in 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup between Pakistan and New Zealand. [3] The inaugural Twenty20 International was played in 2011 Sri Lanka against Australia. Australian batsman Shaun Marsh became the first player to score a Test century at the ground when he made 141 against Sri Lanka in 2011. [5] The highest Test score of the ground was scored by Sri Lankan Kusal Mendis, when he scored 176 runs against Australia in 2016. [6] Up to 30 December 2016, 9 Test centuries have been scored in this ground.

The ground has witnessed 12 ODI centuries until 2016. The first of these was made by the New Zealander Ross Taylor in 2011 against Pakistan at the inaugural ODI at the venue which was a pool match of 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. [7] Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan scored the highest ODI score at the venue of 144 against Zimbabwe. He bagged five ODI centuries and a single T20I century at the venue, becoming the most successful batsman at the venue with 939 runs at an average of 78.25. [8]

The first Twenty20 International century at the ground scored again by Tillakaratne Dilshan, when he scored unbeaten 104 runs against Australia during inaugural T20I at the venue back in August 2011. [9] The highest T20I score at the venue highlighted as unbeaten 145 runs by Australian Glenn Maxwell against Sri Lanka, when he arranged the match for highest T20I team total of the history. [10] With three T20I centuries at the venue, Pallekele Stadium holds the record for the most T20I centuries to score at a single venue.

Sri Lanka national cricket team National sports team

The Sri Lanka national men's cricket team, nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played international cricket in 1926–27, and were later awarded Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket playing nation. The team is administered by Sri Lanka Cricket.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is a cricket stadium located in Bangalore, Karnataka. Flanked by the picturesque Cubbon Park, Queen's Road, Cubbon and uptown MG Road, this five-decade-old stadium is situated in the heart of the city of Bangalore It has a seating capacity of 40,000, and regularly hosts Test cricket, One Day Internationals (ODI), Twenty20 Internationals (T20i) and other First-class cricket matches, as well as musical and cultural events. The stadium is the home ground of the Karnataka state cricket team and the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. It is owned by the Government of Karnataka and has been leased out to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for a period of 100 years.

Barabati Stadium Sports stadium in Cuttak Odisha

The Barabati Stadium is an Indian sports stadium used mostly for cricket and association football, and also sometimes for concerts and field hockey, located in Cuttack, Odisha. It is a regular venue for international cricket and is the home ground of Odisha cricket team. The stadium is owned and operated by the Odisha Cricket Association. It is also used for Association Football. It hosts Santosh Trophy national football tournament and the state's Odisha First Division League football matches. The Barabati Stadium is one of the older grounds in India, having hosted several touring sides – including the MCC, the West Indies team and the Australians - before it hosted its first international match. It hosted only the third one-day international in this country, in January 1982, when India put it across England by five wickets to lift the series 2-1. It hosted its first ever Test match five years later where India played hosts to Sri Lanka. Though it isn't one of the regular Test venues anymore, it continues to enjoy the status of international venue and hosts One-Day Internationals regularly. It also hosted the 2013 Women's Cricket World Cup.

Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot Cricket stadium in Sialkot

Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot is one of the oldest cricket grounds in Pakistan. This stadium was constructed in 1920 by the British. In the 1950s it was named Jinnah Park. In 1979 it was upgraded and renamed Jinnah Stadium. It was initially named Connelly Park by the British and after independence, it was renamed as Jinnah Park. It is the home ground of Sialkot Stallions.

Pallekele International Cricket Stadium Cricket stadium in Sri Lanka

Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, is a cricket stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka. In July 2010, The Central Provincial Council in Kandy announced plans to rename the stadium to honour the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, but hasn't officially done so yet. The stadium was opened on 27 November 2009 and became the 104th Test venue in the world in December 2010.

The West Indies cricket team is touring Sri Lanka from 10 November to 21 December 2010. The tour consists of one three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Tests. A three-day tour match between West Indies and Sri Lanka Cricket president's XI was also played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground from 10–12 November.

Babar Azam Pakistani cricketer

Mohammad Babar Azam is a Pakistani cricketer who captains Pakistan in all formats. Azam plays for Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League and captains Central Punjab in domestic cricket.

Balapuwaduge Kusal Gimhan Mendis, known as Kusal Mendis ; born 2 February 1995) is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for all forms of the game. He only played sixteen first-class matches before playing for the national side. He usually bats at number three in all formats. In November 2017, he was named the One Day International (ODI) batsman of the year for the 2016–17 season at Sri Lanka Cricket's annual awards.

Madagamagamage Dasun Shanaka, or Dasun Shanaka, is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer, who plays for all formats. Known as a pinch hitter, Shanaka generally plays as a batting all rounder with handy right-arm medium fast bowling. In 2019, he captained the Twenty20 International side against Pakistan, and Sri Lanka whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 in the series under his captaincy. Shanaka is a past student of St. Peter's College, Negombo and Maris Stella College, Negombo.
