Azzam al-Ahmad is a Palestinian politician, economist and diplomat. He holds a BA in economics from Baghdad University and has held various significant positions throughout his career. Ziyad Jamil Abdel Fattah is a Palestinian politician, writer, journalist and novelist, born in Tulkarm, Palestine. He is one of the leaders of the Fatah movement, founder of the Palestinian News Agency, a member of the Palestinian National Council in the Palestine Liberation Organization for several sessions, and the former president of Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), the Palestinian General Authority for Consultations, and the Palestinian National Library. Yousef Asfour is a Palestinian businessman, he founded and is currently the chairman of the board of directors of the Arab American University in Palestine.

The 2005 Arab League summit, officially 17th Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Summit Level, was a regular summit that was held in Algiers, Algeria in March 2005.

On the evening of 17 April 2004, the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, aged 56, was assassinated by missiles fired by Israeli warplanes on the car he was traveling in. In addition two of his bodyguards were killed. The operation was considered part of a campaign to eliminate the leaders of the groups fighting in the uprising. Maged Awni Muhammad Abu Ramadan is a Palestinian ophthalmologist who has served as the Minister of Health of the State of Palestine since March 2024. He was the mayor of Gaza City between 2005 and 2008.
