There are 25 Catholic high schools in the Detroit area as of 2015. 24 of those schools belong to the Archdiocese of Detroit.
The current Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit are from Genesee County, Macomb County, Monroe County, Oakland County, St. Clair County, Washtenaw County, and Wayne County.
The Archdiocese of Detroit comprises six counties of Southeast Michigan: Lapeer, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Wayne. [1] There currently are no Catholic high schools in Lapeer County.
A directory of Roman Catholic institutions from the 1960s listed 108 Catholic grade schools in Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. [2] By 2005 suburban flight contributed to the decline of Catholic schools in the Detroit area. There were no Catholic schools left in Hamtramck by that year, and in the Detroit city limits there were 12. [3] By 2017 there were four Catholic elementary schools in the city of Detroit. [2] There are 103 Detroit-area high schools which have closed as of 2015.[ citation needed ]

Genesee County, Lenawee County and Washtenaw County are part of the Diocese of Lansing. Some Catholic high schools located in those counties are listed below because they participate, or have participated, in the Detroit Catholic High School League in athletics, which is part of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Wyandotte is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 25,058 at the 2020 census.
Hamtramck is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. An enclave of Detroit, Hamtramck is located roughly 5 miles (8.0 km) north of downtown Detroit, and is surrounded by Detroit on most sides. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 28,433, and was by far the most densely populated municipality in Michigan. It is notable as the only Muslim-majority city in the United States.
The Catholic High School League (CHSL) is a school athletic conference based in Detroit, Michigan, led by director Victor Michaels. Most member schools are also members of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), the governing body for Michigan scholastic sports, except for the five schools from Toledo, which are members of the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Unlike many similar leagues, the CHSL governs secondary, middle, and elementary sports for most of the parochial schools in the Detroit area. Most league schools are Catholic, but there are other religious denominations as well. Every school in the CHSL is a private school. In 2019, the CHSL council voted to rename the AB/ Division I/II championship to the Bishop division championship, and the CD/ Division III/IV championship to the Cardinal Division championship.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School, was a private, Roman Catholic high school in Wyandotte, Michigan to the parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It was closed in June, 2011 by the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Hanley International Academy is a preK-8 charter school in Hamtramck, Michigan in Greater Detroit. Prior to opening its new building, the school occupied two separate buildings. The school operates under a contract with Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Students are required to wear school uniforms.
St. Florian High School was a Catholic high school in Hamtramck, Michigan of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit. The school opened in 1940 and was located in the same building as St. Florian Elementary School.
In 2023, Polish Americans are most heavily concentrated in the Upper Midwest and Northeast regions of the United States. As the second most Polish populated state, Michigan follows closely behind Wisconsin with 784,200 people identifying as Polish, or 7.82% of the state's population, identifying as Polish. Many of these Polish Americans live in the Metro Detroit area of Michigan.
