The MS Pride of Winchester, was a UK Ro-Ro/Passenger ferry, which was part of P&O European Ferries' fleet. She was built in 1975 by Aalborg as the Viking Viscount for Townsend Thoresen and was put into service by P&O European Ferries in 1989, when European Ferries Group was purchased by P&O. She was named after Winchester, a city in Hampshire, England.
The ship was used Originally deployed on the Felixstowe to Zeebrugge route she was later transferred to the Portsmouth to Cherbourg route until 1994 when she was replaced by a bigger ship, the original Pride of Le Havre . She also operated on the Calais-Dover line. In 1995 was sold from a Greek company Lane Sea Lines for the Piraeus, Milos, Agios Nikolaos, Sitia. Then the ship did the Piraeus, Kithira, Antikythera, Githio, Kalamata, Kisamos. During the Summer of 2017 Vitsentzos Kornaros had a problem with her engines and then was laid-up in Kinosoura, Greece. In April 2020 Vitsentzos Kornaros sold for scrap in Aliaga, Turkey. [1]
Vitsentzos Kornaros could hold up to 1200 passengers and 275 private cars. and was powered by three main engines (2 Werkspoor 8TM410 and 1 Werkspoor 9TM410 diesel). [2] with a combined power of 10,655 KW and reached speeds of up to 18 knots. She had stabilizers for sailing in wild sea and -after coming to Greece- cabins for night routes. Her capacity was 6,387 gt. [1]
The ship was built in 1976 in Denmark as the Viking Viscount for Townsend Thoresen. In 1989, with the creation of P&O European Ferries (which succeeded Townsend Thoresen) she received the name Pride of Winchester. In 1994, she came to Greece, bought by LANE Sea Lines and underwent a small-scale reconstruction to which cabins were added. Her first route was Piraeus - Milos - Agios Nikolaos - Sitia, but along the way she was launched on other lines such as the line Piraeus-Milos-Santorini-Anafi-Crete-Kaso-Karpathos-Halki-Rhodes and Piraeus-Gythio-Kythira-Antikythira-Kissamos, sometimes approaching Kalamata. The ship also operated at the Rhodes-Alexandroupolis link. [1]
On 16 June 2017, after 41 years of uninterrupted operation, the ship was stranded in Piraeus due to a mechanical breakdown. [3] The company hoped she would be repaired by 30 June, [4] but the damage was large and the company could not allocate money to repair her, while in case of final withdrawal would have to pay a clause of 480,000 euros. [5] On 17 July it was declared abandoned by the line of Kythera and a tender was announced for the launch of a new ship. In September 2017, she was transferred to Kinosura, Salamina, and at the end of February 2019, a tender was announced for her removal, which was fruitless, while others followed. [2] Finally, in 2020, she was sold to Turkish shipbreakers and was towed to the Aliaga scrap yard for dismantling. [6]
A 22-year-old man, Kevin Dundon, from Essex, went missing while working aboard the vessel as it was returning to Felixstowe from Zeebrugge in Belgium, on 21 September 1980. His body was not found and his brothers believe his death may have been suspicious. [7]
Vitsentzos or Vikentios Kornaros or Vincenzo Cornaro was a Greek poet, who wrote the romantic epic poem Erotokritos. He wrote in vernacular Cretan dialect, and was a leading figure of the Cretan Renaissance.

Erotokritos is a romance composed by Vikentios Kornaros in early 17th century Crete. It consists of 10,012 fifteen-syllable rhymed verses, the last twelve of which refer to the poet himself. It is written in the Cretan dialect of the Greek language. Its central theme is love between Erotokritos and Aretousa. Around this theme, revolve other themes such as honour, friendship, bravery and courage. Erotokritos and Erophile by Georgios Hortatzis constitute classic examples of Greek Renaissance literature and are considered to be the most important works of Cretan literature. It remains a popular work to this day, largely due to the music that accompanies it when it is publicly recited. A particular type of rhyming used in the traditional mantinades was also the one used in Erotokritos.

The HSC Speedrunner Jet is a fast ferry owned by Seajets thαt operates between Sitia, Kasos, Karpathos, Chalki and Rhodos. She was built in 1999 at Fincantieri, Riva Trigoso, Italy, for Sea Containers as HSC SuperSeaCat Three. Under that name she sailed on Sea Container's services around the British Isles, as well as with its subsidiaries Silja Line and SuperSeaCat on the Baltic Sea.
The MS Anthi Marina was a ferry operated by GA Ferries. She was the first of three 'Spirit' class ferries built for Townsend Thoresen, as MS Spirit of Free Enterprise. Her two sister ships were MS Pride of Free Enterprise and MS Herald of Free Enterprise.

Pride of Le Havre was the name of ferry for P&O Ferries that sailed between Portsmouth and Le Havre from 1989 to 1994. From launch until 1994, she was known as the Viking Valiant for Townsend Thoresen and P&O. In 1994 she was renamed Pride of Cherbourg2 for P&O and continued under this name until she was sold to El Salam Maritime in 2002. El Salam Maritime renamed her Pride of Al Salam 1 for El Salam Maritime. In 2004 she was renamed Nador and chartered to Comanav, she was again renamed Mogador for Comanav in 2005, sailing under this name until being scrapped in 2010.

MS Free Enterprise (I) was a cross-Channel ferry operated by Townsend Brothers and later Townsend Thoresen between 1962 and 1980. She was their first purpose built roll-on/roll-off passenger and vehicle ferry. She was sold to Greece in 1980, where she served until being sold for scrap in 2013.
MS Kydon Palace is a Greek Ro-Pax high speed ferry, built in 2001 at the Sestri Ponente shipyards by Fincantieri as Festos Palace for Minoan Lines' overnight services between Piraeus and Crete. Initially she ran to Heraklion. In 2020 she was transferred to the Piraeus–Chania route and renamed Kydon Palace She is a sister ship of Knossos Palace. She can reach speeds up to 30 knots. The ship's facilities include restaurants, bars and cabins.
Vortigern was a 4,797 GRT combined train and roll-on/roll-off ferry built by Swan Hunter in 1969 for the British Railways Board. She was sold to Greece in 1988 and served until 2004 under the names Milos Express, Express Milos and Nisos Lemnos. She was renamed Limon in 2004 and reflagged to Saint Vincent & the Grenadines. Limon was scrapped in 2005.
MF Prevelis is a Ro-Pax ferry, built in 1980 by Imabari Shipbuilding in Japan as Ferry Orange No 2 for Shikoku Kaihatsu Ferry. On 27 December 1980 she was put into service on the Toyo(ja) - Osaka route. In 1994, she was bought by Rethymniaki Naftiliaki SA and was named Preveli after Preveli Monastery. Following a refit in Perama, she started to operate on the Piraeus - Rethymno route. After the 1999 acquisition of Rethymniaki by ANEK Lines, Prevelis operates in the colors of ANEK.
Blue Star 1 is a Greek ferry, which is owned by Blue Star Ferries. She is a motor Ro-Ro/Passenger ferryboat, built in 2000 by Van der Giessen de Noord shipward in Krimpen aan den IJssel, Netherlands. She is a sistership to Blue Star 2. She holds a total of 1600 passengers and 640 vehicles and has 430 beds in 161 cabins for passengers. She has four MAN B&W 8L58 / 64 diesel engines, with combined power of 44,480 kW and reaches speeds of up to 27 knots.
Sea Speed Ferries was a Greek ferry company operating from the Greek mainland to Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. The company was founded in 2018 and operated a single conventional Ro-Pax ferry. The company ceased operations in 2022, following a controversy with a Greek subsidised line.
MS Nordic Ferry was a car ferry built in South Korea as Merzario Espania in 1978 for the Stena Container Line. She operated on Stena's Merzario Line and was renamed Merzario Hispania. Sold to European Ferries in 1980 she was jumboised and renamed Nordic Ferry before sailing on the Felixstowe–Europoort route under the Townsend Thoresen brand. She was taken up from trade by the British government in 1982 to carry troops and stores during the Falklands War, returning to commercial service later that year. She served on the Felixstowe–Zeebrugge routes after a 1986 refit, and was renamed Pride of Flanders after the Townsend Thoresen rebranding to P&O European Ferries the following year. She was sold to Stena Line in 2002 and renamed Flanders and then Stena Transporter. In 2009 she was sold to Strade Blu and renamed Strada Corsa, serving on their Livorno to Olbia route in Italian waters. Sold to Baja Ferries in 2013 and renamed La Paz Star she sailed to the Pacific and served on routes along the northern part of the Western Mexican coast. She was sold again to Medferry Shipping in 2016 and the following year returned to European waters. After a refit she served on the Rhodes to Santorini route in Greek waters. She caught fire in June 2017 and, though saved, was afterwards scrapped in Turkey under the name Star.
The MS Mytilene was a ferry ship of Greece, which used to be part of NEL Lines' fleet. She was built in 1973 in Japan as the Vega and put into service for NEL in 1992. She is a sister ship of Virgo, which also came to Greece as the GA Ferries' Rodanthi. She could accommodate up to 1300 passengers and 225 vehicles. The shipis powered by two Pielstick 16PC2-5V diesel engines with a maximum combined power of 19,200 bhp and reached service speeds up to 21 knots and maximum speed up to 23.8. She had economy class seating, a salon and bar for A and economy class passengers, a self service restaurant, dining room, jewellery safekeeping room, telephone and gift shop. She took her name from Mytilene, the largest city and capital of Lesvos.
