Mahkota Parade is a shopping mall located in Malacca City, Malacca, Malaysia, which was officially opened on 30 January 1994 and relaunched on 1 May 2010 after refurbishment. [1] [2] It was acquired by Hektar REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) in 2006 and became one of its shopping centres, alongside Kulim Central and Central Square in Kedah, Wetex Parade and Segamat Central in Johor, and Subang Parade in Selangor. [3] The mall was part of the 32 hectares Mahkota Melaka Seafront Township Project undertaken by The Lion Group in the 1990s. [4] [5]

The mall building has a gross floor area of 1,392,632 square feet (129,379.7 m2) with a Net Lettable Area of 519,542 square feet (48,267.0 m2) with almost 200 stores spanning over 4 floors. It has more than 1,000 parking spaces. [6]

It houses stores of international brands like Innisfree and Guardian, along with food-and-beverages outlets like Starbucks and Tony Roma's, also entertainment centers, 10 Screen MM cineplexes, Ampang Super Bowl, karaoke etc. [7]

MJ Department Stores Sdn Bhd is a popular retail company in Malaysia which offers items at a medium-to-high rate. The company opened its first store at Pertama Complex, Kuala Lumpur in September, 1976,with a retail space of 18,305 sq ft. Metrojaya's latest outlet, in Berjaya Times Square closed in December 2009, after only three years of operation. Melaka Aerorail is a proposed monorail line to be constructed in Malacca City. It will be constructed in two phases, 9.5 km for the first one with another at 8.7 km. The cost of construction is expected to be around RM1.8 Billion. If it is successful, it will be the first aerorail network in Malaysia and Asia. The project, however, has been postponed indefinitely.

The first to open the gates in the property was McDonald's. It has a fun and entertainment floor, too, which has a little more than 37,431 square feet (3,477.5 m2) of area. Mani Square has a multiplex run by PVR Cinemas. Recently, Mani Group announced that they would develop 6,000,000 sq. feet of residential and commercial space. It is a project with an estimated budget of 150 crore rupees.
