The Malta Rugby Football Union thanks Jed-Forest RFC for the opportunity to take part in one of the most prestigious rugby sevens tournaments in Scotland. It will be our pleasure and honour to line up alongside some of the best club sides in Scotland such as the oldest rugby club Edinburgh Accies and others. The tournament is a perfect lead up to Malta’s preparation for the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) which will take place later this month – we look forward to a stellar rugby Saturday at Jed-Forest.
The Malta national sevens side was beaten in Round 1 by Hawick RFC. Hawick won the match 20-14. [4]

English side London Scottish are the current champions after beating Edinburgh Accies 29–12 in the 2019 final to win the event for the first time since 1965.
The Borders Sevens Circuit is a series of rugby sevens tournaments held annually in the Scottish Borders. Originally the circuit consisted of 5 tournaments; Langholm Sevens being the last added in 1908. It is the oldest Sevens circuit in the world; the first Sevens tournament outside Scotland - bar two single Sevens matches in Chorley, England in 1888 and 1889 - was held in the Scottish expatriate city of Dunedin in New Zealand in 1889 and there was no other Sevens tournament clusters elsewhere.

The Rugby Europe Sevens are a series of rugby sevens tournaments held by Rugby Europe. It was formerly known as the FIRA-AER Sevens until 2013, and the Sevens Grand Prix Series until 2021. Only one annual tournament existed prior to 2011, when Rugby Europe created a series of tournaments, following the model of the World Rugby Sevens Series. The main division is known as the Rugby Europe Championship Series, formerly known the Grand Prix, followed by the Trophy Series, Conference 1, and Conference 2. The competitions use a promotion/relegation system.
The 2023 Rugby World Cup will be the tenth men's Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for rugby union national teams. It is scheduled to take place in France from 8 September to 28 October 2023 in nine venues across the country, and is the first Rugby World Cup to take place entirely in France. The opening game and Final will take place at the Stade de France, north of Paris. The tournament will take place in the bicentenary year of the "invention" of the sport by William Webb Ellis.

Earlston Sevens is an annual rugby sevens event held by Earlston RFC, in Earlston, Scotland. This was one of a group of Sevens tournaments instated after the First World War extending the original Borders Spring Circuit. The Earlston Sevens began in 1923.
The 2025 Rugby League World Cup qualification is the qualifying process which will decide the seven teams that would join the eight quarter-finalists from the 2021 World Cup and hosts France, who received an automatic spot, at the 2025 Rugby League World Cup.
