North Carolina is a state in the Southeastern region of the United States. The state is the 28th largest and 9th-most populous of the United States. It is bordered by Virginia to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Georgia and South Carolina to the south, and Tennessee to the west. Raleigh is the state's capital and Charlotte is its largest city. The Charlotte metropolitan area, with a population of 2,595,027 in 2020, is the most-populous metropolitan area in North Carolina, the 21st-most populous in the United States, and the largest banking center in the nation after New York City. The Raleigh-Durham-Cary combined statistical area is the second-largest metropolitan area in the state and 32nd-most populous in the United States, with a population of 2,043,867 in 2020, and is home to the largest research park in the United States, Research Triangle Park.

Alamance County is a county in North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 171,415. Its county seat is Graham. Formed in 1849 from Orange County to the east, Alamance County has been the site of significant historical events, textile manufacturing, and agriculture.

Whinney Banks is an area in west Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The area is on the Old River Tees's southern banks, the river's main flow was redirected with the Mandale Cut, the A19 is between the old river and the area. It is within the TS5 postcode area and a part of the Ayresome ward, along with West Lane.
Eli Whitney is an unincorporated community in southeastern Alamance County, North Carolina, United States. It is located at the intersection of North Carolina Highway 87, and Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road. To the south is Mandale and to the west is Snow Camp. The United States Postal Service considers Eli Whitney part of the Graham delivery area.
The Tees Navigation Company was a British Company chartered by an Act of Parliament in 1808, for the purpose of improving navigation of the River Tees between the towns of Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough.

Stockton Racecourse, also known as Teesside Park, was a British horse racing venue near Stockton-on-Tees in the north east of England, once considered "the finest in the north". Although named "Stockton Racecourse" there has never been a racecourse within Stockton-on-Tees, these courses were actually located across the River Tees in the North Riding of Yorkshire". Pre 1830s an alteration called the Mandale Cut of the river Tees was made. This caused the land of the racecourse north of the Tees to therefore became North Yorkshire. Due to the memory of the land being north of the Tees the when the course was named it became Stockton Racecourse.
