Marcopolo S.A. is a Brazilian bus, coach and rail manufacturer, founded on 6 August 1949 in the southern Brazilian city of Caxias do Sul, state of Rio Grande do Sul. The company manufactures the bodies for a whole range of coaches, e.g. microbus, intercity, and touring models.
It is the largest bus car manufacturer in Latin America and the third worldwide, over half of the bus bodies in Brazil are from the company, and its coaches were exported to 100 countries. They have seven production plants in Brazil, Argentina, China, Mexico, Colombia, Australia, and South Africa. Some technology was transferred to India's Tata Motors in form of Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd.
Marcopolo was founded on 6 August 1949 in Caxias do Sul as Nicola & Cia Ltd., production was entirely handmade, [2] a company then having 8 partners and 15 employees. In 1953, Marcopolo starts the production of the first steel structures. In 1971, the company changed name to Marcopolo S.A. Carrocerias e Ônibus (Marcopolo S.A. Body and Bus manufacturer). In 2013, made a joint-venture Urban Buses, a CA$ 116 million strategic investment, with New Flyer. [3]

TransMilenio is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system that serves Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, and Soacha, a neighbouring city. The system opened to the public in December 2000. As of 2024, 12 lines totalling 114.4 km (71 mi) run throughout the city. It is part of the city's Integrated Public Transport System, along with the urban, complementary and special bus services operating on neighbourhood and main streets.
Caxias do Sul is a city in Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil, situated in the state's mountainous Serra Gaúcha region. It was established by Italian immigrants on June 20, 1890. Today it is the second largest city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In 2020, the population of Caxias do Sul was estimated at 517,451 people, many of whom are of Italian and German descent. The demonym of the citizens of Caxias do Sul is Caxiense.

The history of ethanol fuel in Brazil dates from the 1970s and relates to Brazil's sugarcane-based ethanol fuel program, which allowed the country to become the world's second largest producer of ethanol, and the world's largest exporter. Several important political and technological developments led Brazil to become the world leader in the sustainable use of bioethanol, and a policy model for other developing countries in the tropical zone of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Government policies and technological advances also allowed the country to achieve a landmark in ethanol consumption, when ethanol retail sales surpassed 50% market share of the gasoline-powered vehicle fleet in early 2008. This level of ethanol fuel consumption had only been reached in Brazil once before, at the peak of the Pró-Álcool Program near the end of the 1980s.

Rosa de Saron is a Christian-themed Brazilian rock band that formed within the Catholic Charismatic Renewal movement in 1988, in Campinas, known for being one of the forerunners of Christian metal in Brazil. The band currently consists of Bruno Faglioni (vocals), Eduardo Faro (guitar), Rogério Feltrin (bass), and Wellington Greve (drums). Their first album, Diante da Cruz, was released in 1994, and they released their next album, Angústia Suprema, in 1997. In 1999, the band recorded Olhando de Frente. In 2002, after a change of vocalists, Rosa de Saron launched the album Depois do Inverno. Their next record, Casa dos Espelhos, came out in 2005, and in 2007, they put out Acoustic CD.
Companhia Carris Porto-Alegrense, also known as Carris, is one of the operating companies of Porto Alegre's public transportation, which also includes the consortiums Viva Sul, Mob, Via Leste, and Consórcio Mais. Its fleet is formed by 347 buses and serves a large part of the city, with about 30 lines.
