Masato Yamanouchi (山内 雅人, Yamanouchi Masato, April 3, 1929, Tokyo – April 7, 2003, Tokyo) was a Japanese voice actor. Over the course of his 58-year career, he was reportedly in more than 20,000 works and dubbed more than 3,000 films. He voiced Grandpa in Future Boy Conan and Dornkirk in The Vision of Escaflowne , [1] [2] [3] and dubbed films for actors including Tyrone Power and Montgomery Clift.[ citation needed ]

Early life and education

Yamanouchi was born Mikio Yamauchi (山内 幹雄) on April 3, 1929 in Tokyo. [1] He attended Shiba Junior High School,[ citation needed ] Waseda University School of Law, and Kamakura Academia's theatre program. [1] While at Waseda, he founded Jiyu Butai, a theatre troupe.[ citation needed ]

Career

In 1945, Yamanouchi joined the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Company, where he hosted a radio show and debuted as a voice actor in Fuefuki Dōji as Kirino Kojiro. [2] [1] His early training for voice roles centered on dramatic reading, which he initially performed in coffee shops. [1] [4] In 1949, he and linguist Haruhiko Kindaichi started the Broadcast Expression Education Center, where they worked on preserving the Edo language. They began accepting students for dramatic reading, making them the first recitation school in Japan. [5] [6] [1] [4] The center was supported by the NHK's Cultural Fund. After leaving NHK in 1977, Yamanouchi worked for K Production, then became a freelancer.[ citation needed ]

In 1975, he received the NHK Broadcasting Operation Director's Award and the Arts Festival Award for Excellence in the drama category. [1]

Death

Yamanouchi died on April 7, 2003 in Meguro, the same Tokyo ward in which he was born, due to complications from lung cancer. [1] [2] [6] He was survived by his widow, Yasuko. [6]

Aki Uechi, previously known as Akiko Yajima is a Japanese voice actress from Kashiwazaki, Niigata. Her best-known role is as the title character Shinnosuke Nohara in the long-running anime series Crayon Shin-chan. She also voices Mipple in the original Futari wa Pretty Cure, Sally Yoshinaga in The Brave Express Might Gaine, Paffy Pafuricia in Haō Taikei Ryū Knight, Relena Peacecraft in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Ayumi Himekawa in Glass Mask, Riku and Diva in Blood+, Longlong in Shizuku-chan and Kohaku in Inuyasha. Jouji Nakata, sometimes anglicized to George Nakata, is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator who is affiliated with the Office Osawa agency. His major voice roles include Alucard in Hellsing, Hijikata Toshizo in Golden Kamuy, Roy Revant in Solty Rei, Giroro in Sgt. Frog, Kirei Kotomine in Fate/stay night, and the title character in Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. Tesshō Genda is a Japanese actor, voice actor and narrator. He is employed by the talent management firm 81 Produce. When he debuted, he used his real name, Mitsuo Yokoi as artist name. Because he had experience with ballet, he was known by the nickname "Pirouette Genda." Genda is one of Japan's most prolific voice actors, with 234 roles credited to his name as of September 25, 2007.

Hidenobu Kiuchi is a Japanese voice actor. Some of his major roles include Hol Horse in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, Yūshi Oshitari in The Prince of Tennis, Kenzo Tenma in Monster, Ren Honjo in Nana, Hei in Darker than Black, Shisui Uchiha in Naruto Shippuden and Dad in Chi's Sweet Home. He began as a stage actor when one of his seniors got him to do voice acting. He had leading roles in each series, such as Jose in Gunslinger Girl and Ramsbeckite Hematite in Cluster Edge. In 2008, he was the first Japanese voice actor to guest at an anime convention in Australia.

Risa Shimizu is a Japanese actress and narrator. She was born and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
