The Michigan House of Representatives elections of 2018 took place on November 6, 2018, [1] alongside the elections to be Michigan's governor, Class I United States Senator, Attorney General, Secretary of State as well elections for Michigan's 14 seats in the United States House of Representatives and all 38 seats in the Michigan Senate; to elect the 110 members that will comprise the Michigan House of Representatives. The Republican, Democratic and Libertarian parties choose their nominees on a partisan primary on August 7, 2018. [1]
Under the Michigan Constitution, members of the state Senate are able to serve only two four-years terms, and members of the House of Representatives are limited to three two-years terms. Michigan has what is considered the toughest term-limits in the country. [2] After the 2018 mid-term elections, nearly 70 percent of the state Senate and 20 percent of the state House will be forced to leave office because of term-limits. [3] The following members are prevented by term-limits from seeking re-election to the House in 2018. This list does not include members that are eligible for re-election, but instead to seek other office or voluntarily retire.
Rose Mary Robinson is a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives.
Robert Kosowski is a member of the Michigan House of Representatives representing a district based in Westland, Michigan.
Henry Yanez is an American politician and a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 25. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Klint Kesto is a member of the Michigan House of Representatives representing a district primarily consisting of Wixom and Commerce Township.
Martin Howrylak is a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives. He represents the 41st District covering Troy and Clawson. He was elected in 2012, succeeding Marty Knollenberg who was term-limited out of office. Previously he was a three-term city council member for Troy, Michigan. Howrylak was a member of the Libertarian Party of Michigan when elected to the Troy City Council.
