Lynda Jean Cordova Carter is an American actress, singer and beauty pageant titleholder best known as the star of the live-action television series Wonder Woman, in the role of Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, based on the DC comic book fictional superhero character of the same name. As a pageant contestant, Carter was crowned Miss World USA 1972 and finished in the top 15 at the Miss World 1972 pageant. Miss USA 2008 was the 57th Miss USA pageant, held in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 11, 2008. At the conclusion of the final night of competition, Crystle Stewart of Texas was crowned the winner by outgoing titleholder Rachel Smith of Tennessee. Crystle represented the United States at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant, which was held in Vietnam, where she placed in the Top 10. This was also the first time in the pageant's 56-year history that two consecutive women of African Americans have been crowned.

The United States has continuously sent a representative to Miss World since its inception in 1951. The United States has won the Miss World crown three times in 1973, 1990 and 2010. Currently, Miss World America is the official national pageant that selects the contestant from the United States to Miss World.

There are a number of Iraqi beauty pageants. Miss Iraq is one of the national beauty pageants in Iraq. Others include Miss World Iraq and Miss Earth Iraq.

Miss World USA 1973 was the 12th edition of the Miss World USA pageant. It was held in Binghamton, New York and was won by Marjorie Wallace of Indiana. She was crowned by outgoing titleholder, Lynda Jean Córdoba Carter of Arizona. Wallace went on to represent the United States at the Miss World 1973 Pageant in London later that year, where she ended up winning Miss World. Due to protocol, the 1st runner-up, Lexie Brockway, replaced Wallace as Miss World USA after Wallace won Miss World 1973.

Miss World USA 1972 was the 11th edition of the Miss World USA pageant and it was held in Hampton, Virginia and was won by Lynda Jean Córdoba Carter of Arizona. She was crowned by outgoing titleholder, Karen Brucene Smith of Texas. Carter went on to represent the United States at the Miss World 1972 in London later that year. She finished in the Top 15 at Miss World.

Miss World USA 1971 was the 10th edition of the Miss World USA pageant, held in the Hampton Roads Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia, and was won by Karen Brucene Smith of Texas. She was crowned by outgoing titleholder Sandra Wolsfeld of Illinois. Smith went on to represent the United States at the Miss World 1971 Pageant in London later that year. She finished as fifth runner-up at Miss World. She later won Miss American Beauty 1974 and competed in and later won Miss International 1974.

The Miss Hawaii World competition is a beauty pageant that selects the representative for the state of Hawaii in the Miss World America pageant.

The Miss Michigan World competition is a beauty pageant that selects the representative for Michigan in the Miss World America pageant.

The Miss Massachusetts World competition is a beauty pageant that selects the representative for Massachusetts in the Miss World America pageant.
