Hardin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 26,831. The county seat is Savannah. Hardin County is located north of and along the borders of Mississippi and Alabama. The county was founded in November 1819 and named posthumously for Col. Joseph Hardin, a Revolutionary War soldier and a legislative representative for the Province of North Carolina; the State of Franklin; and the Southwest Territory. Hardin County was the site of the Battle of Shiloh during the Civil War.

Pittsburg Landing is a river landing on the west bank of the Tennessee River in Hardin County, Tennessee. It was named for "Pitts" Tucker who operated a tavern at the site in the years preceding the Civil War. The landing helped connect the west side of the river to a road on the east that went back to Savannah. The landing was home to many families of settlers that migrated from about 1840 to 1860. It is located at latitude 35.15222 and longitude -88.32278 with an elevation of 482 feet (147 m). The aforementioned tavern was on the site that is now Shiloh National Military Park Visitor Center and Shiloh National Military Park/Pittsburgh Landing Graveyard.
Jim Carroll Stadium is a stadium in Savannah, Tennessee. It is primarily used for American football as the home of the Hardin County High School Tigers and hosted the NAIA Football National Championship title game from 1996 to 2007. It has a seating capacity of 5,000 people.

In recent years, the portion of the old railroad grade going west from the community has become the Moonville Rail-Trail. The King Switch Tunnel on the grade is close to the community. The next larger community is New Marshfield, also unincorporated, to the east in the same township.

Hardinville was a town founded in 1817 "near the confluence of Turkey and Boone's Creeks", east of the Tennessee River, in Hardin County, Tennessee. It was incorporated by the state legislature on October 24, 1824. On March 3, 1825, the Congress of the United States passed a law establishing a number of post roads, including one "From Hardinsville[sic], by M'Nairy Courthouse, and Hardiman Courthouse, to Tipton Courthouse." and another "From Hardinville, to Florence, Alabama."
