History

A part of North Beaver Township, [2] Mount Jackson was founded in 1815. [3] The village was once home to Mount Jackson High School, wherefrom many students had been drafted to serve in the United States Armed Forces during World War II. [4] The neighborhood of Jackson Knolls Gardens was carved out of an adjacent forest after the war. [3] In 1964, the village felt the effects of the explosion at the American Cyanamid chemical plant in nearby Edinburg, with windows being blown out. [3] [5]
