Mullakkodi Aided Upper Primary School is a public school in Mullakkodi, India providing education to children in nearby villages from first standard to seventh standard.

History

The school was founded in 1910 by K.P. Narayanan Nambiar, an educator, social reformer and freedom fighter. The school was established as a primary school (first standard to fifth standard) in Parangot of Kayaralam Village and was moved to its current location in Arimbra of Mayyil Grama Panchayat in 1919.

The school was upgraded to a higher elementary school (first standard to eight standard) in 1951 as per the Madras Education Rule. Students on successful completion of a public examination were awarded the Eighth School Leaving Certificate (ESLC). In 1962 the school became an Aided Upper Primary School (first standard to seventh standard) as per the Kerala Education Rule of 1959. The school is accredited by the General Education Department of Government of Kerala and is under the jurisdiction of Taliparamba South Educational District.

The school takes students from Arimbra, Mullakkodi, Kayaralam and Naniyoor-Nambaram. The Medium of instruction is Malayalam. English and Hindi are taught as mandatory languages, and Sanskrit, Arabic and Urdu are taught as optional second languages.

Sir Ramaswami Mudaliar Higher Secondary School is a government-aided higher secondary school in Ambattur. Arunachalam and impressed upon them the need for a High School and convinced them to take up its management. The Ambattur Education Society willingly agreed to transfer the management of the Sri Maha Ganesa Vidya Sala school to A. M. M. Charities Trust. The formal transfer of management took place on 12-09-1957.

Paanivadathilakan P. K. Narayanan Nambiar is an Indian musician, known for his virtuosity in Mizhavu, a traditional percussion instrument and his scholarship in the art of Koodiyattom. He is considered to be one of the masters of Koodiyattom. In 2008, he was awarded Padmashri by Government of India for his services to the art.

Kunnath Puthiyaveettil Padmanabhan Nambiar DIC (Lond), FIEE (Lond), CEngg (Lond.), more popularly known as K.P.P. Nambiar, was an Indian industrialist and technocrat, known for his work in the field of industrial development and technology. He was awarded Padma Bhushan by Government of India for his contributions to the field of technology in 2006.

Kadathanat Madhavi Amma was an Indian poet, novelist and short story writer of Malayalam literature. Known for poetry anthologies such as Kalyopaharam and Kanikkonna, she was also the author of two works based on Vadakkan Pattukal viz. Thacholi Othenan and Payyamvelli Chandu. The Kerala Sahitya Akademi awarded her their annual award for overall contributions in 1996.

Iyyamcode Sreedharan is a Malayalam language writer from Kerala, India. He is well known in various fields of literature such as travelogue writer, Aattakkatha writer, playwright, poet and biographer. He received several awards including Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for travelogue, Kerala Kalamandalam Mukundaraja Award and Kerala Kalamandalam Award for outstanding contribution in the field of literature.

P. M. Kunhiraman Nambiar was an Indian politician and freedom fighter. He represented Koilandi in the first and second Kerala legislative assembly. He was one among the prominent leaders in reorganizing the Congress Socialist Party which went to disarray after a faction of the Congress Socialist Party in Kerala evolved into the Communist Party in 1939.
