History

The Archdiocese of Verapoly has a well-established legacy of dedication to education, particularly in the realm of higher education. This commitment led to the establishment of the St. Albert's Group of Education Institutions, with its roots tracing back to the inception of St. Albert's School in 1892. This landmark school was established on land generously donated by the Kochi Maharaja and held the distinction of being the first private boys' school in the Kingdom of Kochi during that era.

Subsequently, the Archdiocese extended its educational endeavors, giving rise to several other institutions. In 1946, a pivotal decision was made under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Attippetty, the then Archbishop of Kochi and the first Indian Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Verapoly. This decision marked the transformation of the High school into a full-fledged college, giving birth to St. Albert's College. The college initially operated from the Boys' school campus before relocating in 1950 to a new site, while St. Albert's boys' school continued its operation at the original campus with expanded facilities.

The original school campus was an architectural marvel, characterized by the grandeur of Victorian design in the traditional Gothic style. In 1958, a second structure, reminiscent of the original one, was commissioned near the old campus, and Pagoda-styled buildings for lower classes were constructed behind the heritage structure. The St. Albert's Group continued its growth, encompassing over 20 schools, five higher colleges, a medical college, and a nursing home.

In 2005, recognizing the burgeoning business opportunities in Kochi and Kerala, St. Albert's College embarked on a new venture by establishing a business school. The old campus of St. Albert's boys' school underwent a complete transformation to accommodate business students, and this dedicated campus was inaugurated on the 17th of August, 2006.
