Central University of Kerala (CUK) is one of the 15 central universities established under The Central Universities Act, 2009 (Act No.25 of 2009) an Act to establish and incorporate universities for teaching and research by the Parliament of India. [1] The university is seated in Kasaragod, the northernmost district of the Indian state of Kerala. The main campus of the university is situated at Periya, 9.8 km from Kanhangad and 20 km south from Kasaragod towns. The university initially started functioning from a transit campus in Vidyanagar with its humanities schools and other amenities. [2] [3]

The duration of the Bachelor of Arts program in International Relations is 6 semesters. The program is offered at the Capital Center Campus situated at Thiruvananthapuram. It is the only institution to offer BA International Relations in the state of Kerala.
Since 2023-24 academic year, four year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) intake has begun at the University.The ITEP Programme offered are BA-B.ed., BSc-B.ed. and BCom-B.ed. The ITEP programme is a four-year programme that includes eight semesters, inclusive of fieldbased experiences, teaching practice and internship. The programme incorporates general studies comprising Mathematics and Science, Social Sciences , Humanities and Commerce also professional studies comprising perspectives in education, other core education courses, curriculum and pedagogy of school subjects and practicum related to the tasks and functions of a school teacher. The duration of the postgraduate programme is 4 semesters. Each semester has a duration of 16–18 weeks, with 5 working days and 30 instructional hours per week.
The programmes are organised under Choice Based Credit and Semester (CBCS) pattern. Students are offered two types of courses:
In addition to these, each student does a Dissertation/Project emphasising the application of knowledge to real problems. The minimum total credits required for the successful completion of a PG programme is 72 credits within 4 semesters. Out of the 72 credits, a student has to secure a minimum of 48 but not more than 60 credits, including that of the Dissertation for Core courses, and a minimum of 12 but not more than 24 credits for Elective courses. Most of the departments of the university offers Ph.D. programmes. KILA is the research center of International Relations & Political Science
NIRF has ranked the university in the 101-150 band in University rankings and in 151-200 band in the Overall category in 2024. [4] [5]

Cankama- The Art Festival of CUK is the most important cultural event of campus which consist of three days of competitions where students compete under each school. Cankama was started in 2015 by then students council and ever since this stands as the most important event of CUK students' life.
CUK offers scholarships to its PG Students. It stands to be withdrawn from the 2017 academic year onwards despite student protest.
Limited seats in separate hostels for girls and boys are available. [3]
Transport is available to all students from their hostels to the university campuses at subsidised rates. [3]
Central University of Kerala has a full-fledged library at Sindhu Block featuring newspapers, magazines, and a vast collection of books across genres. The library includes a computer lab that has access to most major and minor research publications as well as offers services like plagiarism checking, printing services, etc. The construction of a dedicated Central Library Building is nearing completion. The Students’ Council is a student body comprising 54 student representatives of which all members are elected through elections conducted in 27 constituencies. Voters of each constituency are students of undergraduate and postgraduate programs and research scholars. The council also has an executive committee composed of 10 members. The President, two Vice Presidents, the General Secretary, two Joint Secretaries and four Executive Committee Members are the office bearers of the Students’ Council. [3]
Jadavpur University is a public state funded research and technology university with its main campus located at Jadavpur, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It was established on 25 July 1906 as Bengal Technical Institute and was converted into Jadavpur University in 1955. As of 2024 NIRF rankings, Jadavpur University has been ranked 9th among universities, 12th among engineering institutes, and 17th overall in India. Also Nature Index ranked Jadavpur University in 1st among universities in India and 22th overall in India in terms of research output (2023-2024). The university has been recognized by UGC as an institute with "Potential for Excellence" and accredited an "A+" grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Panjab University (PU) is an Indian collegiate public state university located in Chandigarh. Funded through both State and Union governments, it is considered a state university. It traces its origins to the University of the Punjab in Lahore, which was founded in 1882. After the partition of India, the university was established on 1 October 1947, and called East Punjab University. National Institute of Technology Calicut, formerly Regional Engineering College Calicut, is a public technical university and an institute of national importance governed by the NIT Act passed by the Parliament of India. The campus is situated 22 kilometres (14 mi) northeast of Kozhikode, on the Kozhikode–Mukkam Road. It was established in 1961 and was known as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC) until 2002. It is one of the National Institutes of Technology campuses established by the Government of India to impart high standard technical education to students from all over the country. NIT Calicut hosts a supercomputer on its campus, and has a dedicated nanotechnology department.

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University is a Central University situated in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The university is named after B. R. Ambedkar, social reformer, polymath and the architect of the Indian Constitution. The university was established on 10 January 1996. The university has a satellite campus at Amethi too, which was established in 2016.
Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) is a private deemed university located in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The university was founded by the late M. V. V. S. It has been established in March 2009 through an Act of Parliament, "The Central Universities Act, 2009" by Govt. of India. The university started functioning from May 2009. The Indian Institute of Ranking Framework (IIRF) placed it in 33rd rank among Central Universities category in 2024.

University School of Law & Legal Studies is one of the constituent schools of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Established in 2001, it is an institution dedicated to law and was the first state government law school in Delhi. It is constantly rated in the top 15 government law schools in India offering a 5-year course. It is also rated in the top five law schools in Delhi NCR. The acceptance rate of USLLS is incredibly low, given the fewer seats and large number of applicants. USLLS was also ranked 12 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
