Bee County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. It is in South Texas and its county seat is Beeville. As of the 2020 census, its population was 31,047. The Beeville, TX micropolitan statistical area includes all of Bee County. The county was founded December 8, 1857, and organized the next year. It is named for Barnard E. Bee, Sr., a secretary of state of the Republic of Texas.

Located in Glenview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, the air base primarily operated training aircraft as well as seaplanes on nearby Lake Michigan during World War II. The airfield has two runways, both 8000 feet long by 150 feet wide. Its mission is to support operations of the Naval Air Training Command, specifically Commander, Training Air Wing FOUR located aboard Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. It is under the control of Commander, Navy Region Southeast.
