Noorul Huda Shah (born in Hyderabad, Sindh on 22 July 1951) is a Pakistani dramatist, short story writer, poet and columnist. She was also the Information Minister during the caretaker government in Sindh. [1] [2] [3]

Shah writes in both Sindhi and Urdu. She is best known for writing popular TV serials like Jungle, Marvi, Faaslay and Tapish. [1]

Career

Noorul Huda completed her education from Sindh University and then started a career at Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). Her first play, Jungle, aired on television in 1983. Later, she joined Geo as a soap producer and then became a script writer for Hum TV. [4] She was appointed as CEO of A-Plus television. Afterwards, she started working for Hum Sitaray. [5] In 2017, she joined Bol Network. [4] Shah has written numerous short stories, some of which have been compiled in a collection called Jala Watan. [6] Presently, Shah writes a column for an online news forum called HumSub. [7]

Shah also served as the Information Minister during the caretaker government in Sindh in 2013. [4] She is known in Pakistan as well for promoting the idea of women empowerment and feminism under the funding and her collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University in the United States. [4]

Marvi Mazhar is the daughter of Pir Mazhar Ul Haq of Pakistan Peoples Party in Sindh Assembly and former Senior Minister with the Portfolio of Education in the Sindh Cabinet. She was a member of Sindh Assembly's Standing Committee on Education.

Umarkot Fort, is a fort located in Umerkot, Sindh, also called Amarkot, Umerkot was founded and ruled By Sodha Rajputs of Parmar Dynasty. It was named after its founder Rana Amar Singh Sodha. Emperor Akbar was born in Umarkot Fort when his father Humayun fled from the military defeats at the hands of Sher Shah Suri on 15 October 1542. Rana Prasad Singh Sodha of Umarkot, who had risen to power, had given refuge to Mughal Emperor Humayun, and it was there Hamida Bano Begum gave birth to young Akbar. Later the Mughal Emperor Akbar became the Shahenshah of Hindustan and was a popular figure with both Hindus and Muslims. Umerkot has many sites of historical significance such as Mughal emperor Akbar's birthplace near to Umarkot Fort. Currently, King Akbar birthplace is an open land. In 1746, the Mughal Subahdar, Noor Mohammad Kalhoro, built a fort at the location. Later the British took over that area.

Sammi(in Punjabi سمی ) is a Pakistani television drama serial about social causes that airs on Hum TV from 28 January 2017. It is written by Noor ul Huda Shah and directed by Saife Hassan. Set in rural Rahim Yar Khan, the series centers social issues on the rural society revolving around the concept of Vanni and shows moral lessons against common issues such as gender discrimination. Depicting the Vanni concept, storyline revolves around the journey of Sammi, a young girl who was sold off by her family to the Chaudhry family where her brother had killed her fiancé. Simultaneously it revolves around reality based issues with different characters within the same plot. It was nominated for Best Drama Serial at the 6th Hum Awards.

Noor Muhammad Lashari was a stage, radio, TV and film actor from Sindh, Pakistan. He was awarded the Pride of Performance Award in 1992 by the Government of Pakistan.
