Otoka (Cyrillic : Отока) is a part of Novi Grad, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, located within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It shares borders with the following neighborhoods: Čengić vila (East side), Aneks (South-East side), Švrakino Selo (South side). Its residential core represents a chain of high-rise buildings (Streets: Žrtava Fašizma, Brčanska, Aleja Lipa).
The apartment complex was built by the government in the early 1970s and for a long time stood as most prominent and cleanest part of Sarajevo suburbia. The design was advanced for the time with significant green parks areas, preschool, elementary school and shopping all available within the complex. The vehicle traffic was routed with local streets designed in a ring fashion around the complex which contributed to a safer environment overall.
Otoka was home to FK Olimpik football club, before its dissolution in 2021. [1] The stadium is located within the sports complex that includes both Otoka Stadium and Sarajevo Olympic pool; a home ground of Bosnia and Herzegovina men's national water polo team.

Fudbalski klub Željezničar Sarajevo, commonly referred to as Željo, is a professional football club, based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The name Željezničar means "railway worker", originating from their establishment by a group of railway workers in 1921. Throughout its history, the club has cultivated a reputation for producing talented home-grown players through its academy.
The Sarajevo Canton, officially the Canton of Sarajevo, is one of 10 cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its cantonal seat is the city of Sarajevo, also the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Sacred Heart Cathedral is a Catholic church in Sarajevo; commonly referred as the Sarajevo Cathedral, it is the largest cathedral in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, currently Cardinal Tomo Vukšić, and center of Catholic worship in the city. The cathedral is located in the city's Old Town district.
Baščaršija Nights is the biggest culture festival in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Taking place throughout July every year, it celebrates various aspects of the nation's culture, and includes performances of classical music, rock and roll and folk music; live theatre; various exhibits and folklore displays; as well as books, film, children's programming, opera and ballet.
Bosanska Krupa is a municipality located in the Una-Sana Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As of 2013, it has a population of 29,659 inhabitants.
Bilino Polje is the home football stadium of Bosnian Premier League football club NK Čelik from the city of Zenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of two stadiums of the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is also sometimes used for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national rugby union team as well.
Fudbalski klub Olimpik Sarajevo, commonly referred to as just Olimpik, was a professional football club from Sarajevo, based in the part of the city which is called Otoka. Being one of the first teams to be formed in independent Bosnia and Herzegovina, they started off playing in the top tier right at the start of the club's formation in 1993. Having played in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina in several swaths since 1994, after the 2016–17 season they were relegated into the First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country's second-tier league, where they played until the 2019–20 season, before getting promoted back to the Premier League.
Trnovo is a town and municipality located in Sarajevo Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As of 2013, the municipality had a population of 1,502 inhabitants. The town itself had a total population of 1,023, with 956 of them living in the Republika Srpska part and 67 in the Federation part.
Grbavica Stadium is located in Grbavica, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This football stadium has terraces close to the pitch and it is the home stadium of FK Željezničar Sarajevo and one of two stadiums of the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The stadium has a capacity to hold 13,146 seated spectators, with more room for standing spectators under South stands. Grbavica Stadium is also known as Dolina ćupova.
Sarajevo Synagogue is Sarajevo's primary and largest synagogue and is located on the south bank of the river Miljacka. It was constructed in 1902 and remains the only functioning synagogue in Sarajevo today.
The Sarajevo derby, also known as the Eternal derby, is the name given to any football match between rival clubs Željezničar and Sarajevo, the two primary clubs in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the most viewed annual sporting event in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Operation Sana was the final military offensive of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina in western Bosnia and Herzegovina and the last major battle of the Bosnian War. It was launched from the area of Bihać on 13 September 1995, against the Army of Republika Srpska, and involved advances towards Bosanski Petrovac, Sanski Most and Bosanska Krupa. At the same time, the Croatian Army and the Croatian Defence Council were engaging the VRS in Operation Maestral 2 further to the southeast. After an initial 70-kilometre (43 mi) advance, VRS reinforcements managed to stop the ARBiH short of Sanski Most and Novi Grad, and reversed some of the ARBiH's territorial gains in a counterattack. After a part of the ARBiH 5th Corps was threatened with defeat around the town of Ključ, the ARBiH requested assistance from the HV.
Otoka Stadium is a football stadium in Otoka neighborhood of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was the home ground to FK Olimpik from 1993 to 2021. The stadium capacity is 3,000 seats.
The Presidency Building is the official residence of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the Centar Municipality of Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kurtalići is a village in the municipality of Višegrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Babića bašča is a local community within the municipality of Stari Grad, Sarajevo. It's one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Sarajevo. It derives its name from a garden that was the property of a certain Babić family, and it was located in a street that now has the same name as the local community. The reason why it's named after a garden is that because almost all houses had gardens in their courtyards and in summer, many people who traveled through Sarajevo in the past, described Sarajevo as a green oasis surrounded by hills, making those gardens something as a symbol of the city. The street and old cemetery Alifakovac is located here and therefore the neighborhood is locally and throughout the city known as Alifakovac. It borders the local communities of Baščaršija, Vratnik and Mošćanica to the north, Hrid – Jarčedoli to the south, Bistrik to the west and the Entity of Republika Srpska to the east. The local community counts a population of 1,496.
The 2012–13 Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, also known as BH Telecom Premier League for sponsorship reasons, was the thirteenth season of the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the highest football league of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since its original establishment in 2000 and eleventh as a unified country-wide league. The season began on 4 August 2012 and ended on 26 May 2013, with a winter break between 26 November 2012 and 2 March 2013. The official fixture schedule was released on 3 July 2012.
Istiklal Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was named after Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, the national mosque of Indonesia, since the mosque was a gift from the Indonesian people and government for Bosnia and Herzegovina as a token of solidarity and friendship between the two nations. The name "istiqlal" is Arabic word for "independence", thus it is also meant to commemorate the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
