PRK Productions is an Indian film production company founded by Puneeth Rajkumar and managed by his wife, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar. [2] [3]

History

PRK Productions was founded on 20 July 2017. [1] The production house made its feature film debut with Kavaludaari (2019), a neo-noir thriller film starring Rishi and Anant Nag. [4] The studio's next film was Mayabazar 2016 (2020), which featured an ensemble cast of Raj B. Shetty, Vasishta N. Simha, and Prakash Raj. [5] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the production house's next two ventures, Law and French Biriyani , were directly released on Amazon Prime Video in 2020. [3] Law marked the film debut of Ragini, Prajwal Devaraj's wife. [6] French Biriyani starred Danish Sait and Sal Yusuf marked the film debut of TikToker Disha Madan. [7]

The next three films of the banner- One Cut Two Cut starring Danish Sait, Family Pack starring Likith Shetty and Amrutha Iyengar and Man of the Match directed by D.Satya Prakash of Rama Rama Re fame were a direct release on Amazon Prime Video. [8] [9] Their next release was Gandhadagudi , the last film of late Puneeth Rajkumar, directed by the National Award winner AmoghaVarasha JS. [10]

Ashwini took over the production house fully after Puneeth's death in October 2021 and continued their objective of supporting and bring in fresh faces and ideas into the industry. [11] In 2023, they released the comedy drama movie Aachar & Co . directed and acted by Sindhu Sreenivas Murthy with a majority of cast as newbies and women. [12] [13] The movie opened to positive to mixed reviews from critics but ran to full theatres with family audience across Karnataka for around 25 days. [14] [15]

To celebrate the birth anniversary of Puneeth, Ashwini joined hands with KRG Studios to re-release one of his most celebrated movie Jackie on 15 March 2024. [16]

Puneeth Rajkumar, affectionately known as Appu, was an Indian actor, playback singer, film producer, television presenter and philanthropist who worked in Kannada cinema. He was the youngest son of legendary actor and matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar. He was one of the most popular actors in Kannada cinema. He appeared as a lead in 32 films. As a child, he appeared in many films. His performances as a child actor in Vasantha Geetha (1980), Bhagyavantha (1981), Chalisuva Modagalu (1982), Eradu Nakshatragalu (1983), Bhakta Prahaladha (1983), Yarivanu (1984) and Bettada Hoovu (1985) were praised. He won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his role of Ramu in Bettada Hoovu. He also won Karnataka State Award Best Child artist for Chalisuva Modagalu and Eradu Nakshatragalu. Puneeth's first lead role was in 2002's Appu. In a career spanning three decades, he has won one National Film Award, four Karnataka State Film Awards, six Filmfare Awards South and five SIIMA awards. He was conferred with the Doctorate by Mysuru University. The Karnataka Government conferred the state's highest civilian award, Karnataka Ratna, to Puneeth Rajkumar on 1 November 2022, posthumously.

Shankar, Narasimharaju and Balakrishna performed other important roles.

Kavaludaari will be the first feature film presentation from the production house. The film stars Rishi, Anant Nag, Achyuth Kumar, Suman Ranganath, and Roshni Prakash in the lead roles, while Avinash, Sulile Kumar, Sampath, and Sidhaartha Maadhyamika play supporting roles. The music and background score for the film is composed by Charan Raj with cinematography by Advaitha Gurumoorthy and editing by Jagadeesh. The film released on 12 April 2019.
