Panagaeus is a genus in the beetle family Carabidae, native to the Holarctic (including Europe), the Near East, and North Africa, as well as Central and South America. There are about 15 described species in Panagaeus. [1] [2] [3]
These 15 species belong to the genus Panagaeus:
Xysticus is a genus of ground crab spiders described by C. L. Koch in 1835, belonging to the order Araneae, family Thomisidae. The genus name is derived from the Ancient Greek root xyst, meaning "scraped, scraper".
Dorcus is a genus of beetles in the stag beetle family Lucanidae. Of the over 100 species, most occur in Asia and India; two are found in southern Europe, and two species are from North America. Previously, specimens with serriform teeth on the mandibles and sable pigment were called Serrognathus whereas specimens with but a singular or multiple bulky notches on the mandibles and lustrous sable pigmentation were called Dorcus.
Carabus is a genus of beetles in the family Carabidae. The genus is highly diverse with 94 subgenera, 959 species and 2300 subspecies, thus is the largest genus in the subfamily Carabinae. The vast majority are native to the Palearctic, but 16 Nearctic species are also known. Carabus spp. are 12–50 mm (0.47–1.97 in) long, and most species are wingless and often very colourful. These are nocturnal, predatory beetles that feed on snails, earthworms, and caterpillars. Most Carabus species were thought to have inhabited the Eurasian forest, but the species' low dispersal abilities altered the distribution of lineages within the genus.
Pterostichus is a very large genus of ground beetles with a Holarctic distribution in the subfamily Harpalinae. It has over 1,200 species. The beetles are predatory, but sometimes feed on strawberries. They can be found under rocks and prefer slightly moist, sandy soil although preferences differ between species.
Loricera is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae, the sole genus of the subfamily Loricerinae. There are about 17 described species in Loricera.
Notiophilus is a genus of ground beetle native to the Palearctic, the Nearctic, the Near East and North Africa. Most known for their distinctive head shape and size-body ratio the genus is sometimes referred to as the springtail stalkers.
Anisodactylus is a genus of ground beetle native to the Palearctic, the Near East and North Africa.
Oodes is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae, found worldwide.
Poecilus is a genus of ground beetle native to the Afro-tropical, the Palearctic, the Near East, North Africa, and North America regions.
Synuchus is a genus in the beetle family Carabidae. There are more than 80 described species in Synuchus.
Patrobus is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are more than 20 described species in Patrobus.
Philorhizus is a genus in the beetle family Carabidae. There are more than 50 described species in Philorhizus.
Coptodera is a genus of beetles in the family Carabidae, constituted of 105 species distributed across North and South America, Africa, Oceania and eastern Asia.
Euschizomerus is a genus in the beetle family Carabidae. There are about 15 described species in Euschizomerus.
Platynus is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are more than 180 described species in Platynus.
Myas is a genus of in the beetle family Carabidae. There are more than 40 described species in Myas.
Pogonistes is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are about eight described species in Pogonistes.
Pogonus is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae, found worldwide. There are more than 50 described species in Pogonus.
Pinacodera is a genus in the beetle family Carabidae. There are more than 20 described species in Pinacodera, found in North, Central, and South America.
