Polwheveral (Cornish : Poll Hwevrer, meaning lively creek) is a hamlet near Constantine in Cornwall, England. [1] Polwheveral is at the head of a creek of the Helford River. [2]
The manor of Polwheveral (or Polwheverer) was for part of the Middle Ages held by the family of de Polwheverer; from the latter part of the 16th century it was held by the family of Rise who were resident at Trewardreva. However, when Thomas Rise (died 1621) he had no son and so the family of Trewren became the lords of the manor through the marriage of Thomas Trewren and Jane Rise. The manor remained in the possession of the Trewrens until Thomas Trewren disinherited his son and made his two daughters his heirs. One of them, Mrs. Scott, had a son, the Rev. Charles Scott who sold off the estate in parcels. Polwheveral Wartha was a common and wood belonging to the manor of Polwheveral; Polwheveral Wollas however did not belong to the same manor but to the Lords of Treviades. [3]
Viscount Falmouth is a title that has been created twice, first in the Peerage of England, and then in the Peerage of Great Britain. The first creation came in the Peerage of England in 1674 for George FitzRoy, illegitimate son of King Charles II by Barbara Villiers. He was created Earl of Northumberland at the same time and in 1683 he was made Duke of Northumberland. However, he left no heirs, so the titles became extinct at his death in 1716.

The parish of Constantine is bounded by the parishes of Mabe, Mawnan, Gweek, Wendron and the north bank of the Helford River.
Perranarworthal is a civil parish and village in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The village is about four miles (6.5 km) northwest of Falmouth and five miles (8 km) southwest of Truro. Perranarworthal parish is bordered on the north by Kea parish, on the east by Restronguet Creek and Mylor parish, on the south by St Gluvias and Stithians parishes and on the west by Gwennap parish. The parish population at the 2011 census was 1,496. The name derives from the Manor of Arworthal which has had a number of spellings in the past including Hareworthal (1187), Arwoethel and Arwythel. By the 18th-century two names appear on maps "Perran Arworthal" meaning St Piran's by the creek or estuary. William Penaluna described the settlement in 1838. Perranwell railway station is on the Maritime Line.
