A number of by-elections were held during this period.
Brecon and Radnorshire is a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Created in 1918, it elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election; until 1997 its name was simply Brecon and Radnor.
Llangors is a small village, community and electoral ward in southern Powys, in the historic county of Brecknockshire, within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Elections to Monmouthshire County Council were held on 10 June 2004 on the same day of the European Elections.
As a result of the 2009 structural changes to local government in England, the former Wiltshire County Council and the four districts within its geographical area were replaced by the new Wiltshire Council, which is a unitary authority covering the same area, with elections continuing to be held every four years, beginning in June 2009.
