Pradhanmantri (transl.The Prime Minister) is an Indian television political documentary series, hosted by actor-director Shekhar Kapur on Hindi news channel ABP News. It premiered on 13 July 2013. [1] It aimed to bring to the audience never-seen-before facts of Indian history. [2] [3] The weekly programme chronicles the history of India from 1947 to the present day. [4] [5] [6] The TV series was hosted by the renowned film-maker, actor and host Shekhar Kapur and directed by Puneet Sharma. [7] [8] [9] It was a unique attempt to present the changes in the country during the tenures of 13 prime ministers in the last 65 years. Pradhanmantri aired every Saturday at 10 pm. [10] [11] [12] Raghi Papiya Joshi and Sohan Thakur are casting directors. [13]

Contents

The series aired the news telecast of death of Indira Gandhi on Doordarshan by Salma Sultan. Initially conceptualised for 23 episodes, Pradhanmantri was extended to 26 episodes with the last episode aired on 4 January 2014. The show was earlier rumoured to be titled Idea of India. [14]

Pradhanmantri has been re-telecasted in Bengali on ABP Ananda from 14 December 2013, hosted by Bengali actor Dhritiman Chatterjee and re-telecasted in Marathi language on ABP Majha with the name Sinhasan and hosted by Marathi actor Vikram Gokhale from 23 November 2013.

Season 2, christened as Pradhanmantri 2, premiered on ABP News on January 25, 2020. It is again being hosted by actor-director Shekhar Kapur."Pradhanmantri Season -II" will discuss the ideas which will give India its due place in the comity of great nations. [15]

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L. K. Advani praised Pradhanmantri on his blog and public platforms. [17] [18] [19] Retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kiran Bedi and Sunil Shashtri (son of Lal Bahadur Shastri) also praised the series. [20]

Social media

The show noticed a huge engagement on social media with the #Pradhanmantri trending on Twitter for over 4 days in India on its launch. The hash-tag was promoted heavily by ABP News through a contest on Twitter. The lucky winners of the #Pradhanmantri contest were given K Touch A15 smartphone and a set of 19 books by Rajkamal Prakashan Private Limited on topics like Maanav Samskrithi, modern India, Lokayuth, Bhagath Singh, Prakrithi, Saahithya as gratifications. [21] #Pradhanmantri trended for more than 56 hours, had almost 2.2 million views on YouTube, and had more than 1.2 million mentions on Twitter in 25 weeks.

Season II

Pradhanmantri II (The Prime Minister) is an Indian television political documentary series, hosted by actor-director Shekhar Kapur on Hindi news channel ABP News. This second season premiered on 25 January 2020. [22] The first episodes showed the integration of Kashmir into the Union of India. [23]

General elections were held in India on 22 and 26 November 1989 to elect the members of the ninth Lok Sabha. The incumbent Indian National Congress (Indira) government under the premiership of Rajiv Gandhi lost its mandate, even though it was still the largest single party in the Lok Sabha. V. P. Singh, the leader of the second largest party Janata Dal was invited by the President of India to form the government. The government was formed with outside support from the Bharatiya Janata Party and Communist parties led by CPI(M). V. P. Singh was sworn in as the seventh Prime Minister of India on 2 December 1989.

Avtar Singh Atwal was an Indian police officer who served as the Deputy Inspector General of the Punjab Police. He was murdered by three unknown extremists on the steps of Golden temple while leaving after prayers on 25 April 1983 concluded by the CBI investigation that followed. His murder set in motion a chain of events that led to the commencement of Operation Blue Star. He was a posthumous recipient of the President's Police Medal for Gallantry.

Pradhan Mantri Gramin Aawas Yojana is a social welfare programme under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, to provide housing for the rural poor in India. A similar scheme for urban poor was launched in 2015 as Housing for All by 2022. Indira Awas Yojana was launched in 1985 by Rajiv Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India, as one of the major flagship programs of the Ministry of Rural Development to construct houses for the Below Poverty Line population in the villages.

7 RCR...Projecting India's Future is an Indian television politics-based reality series/documentary series, hosted by Indian author, columnist, and speaker Chetan Bhagat on Hindi news channel ABP News, which premiered on 11 January 2014. This is a show of dramatized biographies of all those who have the mettle to make it to 7, Race Course Road, the Prime Minister's official residence, presented in the most interesting manner. It aims to bring to the audience the never seen before facts of Indian history. The 7 RCR show started immediately after the much critically acclaimed Pradhanmantri hosted by Shekhar Kapur. 7 RCR is a show in lead up to 2014 Indian general election. Raghi Papiya Joshi and Sohan Thakur are casting Directors of the show. It showed 8 possible candidates for PM of India. The series is re-launched post-election with episodes on Narendra Modi's journey to 7RCR on 24 May 2014.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a credit-linked subsidy scheme by the Government of India to facilitate access to affordable housing for the low and moderate-income residents of the country. It envisaged a target of building 2 crore (20 million) affordable houses by 31 March 2022. It has two components: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(Urban) (PMAY-U) for the urban poor and Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin) (PMAY-G and also PMAY-R) for the rural poor, the former administered by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the latter by Ministry of Rural Development.
