ProgeCAD (pronounced PRO-je-cad) is a 2D / 3D CAD program based on IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) solutions designed to work in Microsoft Windows systems, used to open, view, edit and create from scratch project documentation in file formats *.dwg, *.dxf compatible with most AutoCAD versions. ProgeCAD software also allows you to create printouts to PDF files.
ProgeCAD (originally called "ProgeSOFT IntelliCAD" until 2005) is a Computer-Aided Design software platform developed by ProgeSOFT. progeCAD is described as "a Professional, native DWG 2D/3D CAD, supplied with Applications, Libraries and Services at remarkably low cost.". [1] progeCAD is developed using ITC IntelliCAD, [2] ACIS and Open Design Alliance programming toolkits. The user interface emulates certain versions of AutoCAD, including floating toolbars and a command line supporting AutoLISP and VBA scripting. The "Professional" version includes several enhancements, such as information tables, basic dynamic block support, 3D solid modeling, rendering and PDF import & printing. [3] As of 2011, ProgeCAD uses 3D architectural technology "EasyArch" [4] . ProgeCAD currently uses hardware acceleration in OpenGL graphics technology. There is currently no support for DirectX hardware acceleration.
In 2005, ProgeCAD launched a free version of "progeCAD LT" for personal use. The next "LT" was continued in 2006. In 2007, the name of the project was changed to "progeCAD Smart! [5] [6] ", Which was associated with Autodesk protests due to the similarity of the name to Autocad LT. ProgeCAD "Smart" is not "open source" software, and the use of the free version of progeCAD was only possible privately or for educational purposes. The license restricts use for business or commercial purposes which is illegal. The latest version of ProgeCAD "Smart" was released in 2009.
ProgeCAD offers schools educational versions [7] , they are full "Professional" licenses of progeCAD. The program aims to popularize the ProgeCAD environment, and many schools around the world have participated in the program.
ProgeCAD is currently distributed in English, Italian, Korean, German, Polish, Czech, Swedish, Chinese, Russian and Polish. Translation is underway to support additional languages. progeCAD can be downloaded directly from the progeSOFT website. [8] As of progeCAD 2017 release, native 64-bit architecture support was added, as well as improved OpenGL hardware accelerated graphics. [9]
In 2006 progeCAD released their "CADforLinux", a commercial distribution of progeCAD for Linux using the Wine emulation layer. ProgeCAD CADforLinux is not currently in active development. Some users report success with progeCAD under Linux or MAC OS X virtualization as well as CITRIX desktop, but these configurations are currently unsupported by progeCAD.
AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software application. Developed and marketed by Autodesk, AutoCAD was first released in December 1982 as a desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers. Before AutoCAD was introduced, most commercial CAD programs ran on mainframe computers or minicomputers, with each CAD operator (user) working at a separate graphics terminal. Since 2010, AutoCAD was released as a mobile- and web app as well, marketed as AutoCAD 360.
AutoCAD DXF is a CAD data file format developed by Autodesk for enabling data interoperability between AutoCAD and other programs.

Neither the application programming interface (API) nor the interpreter to execute AutoLISP code are included in the AutoCAD LT product line.

DWG is a proprietary binary file format used for storing two- and three- dimensional design data and metadata. It is the native format for several CAD packages including DraftSight, AutoCAD, BricsCAD, IntelliCAD, Caddie and Open Design Alliance compliant applications. In addition, DWG is supported non-natively by many other CAD applications. The .bak, .dws, .dwt and .sv$ files are also DWG files.
QCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) software application for 2D design and drafting. It is available for Linux, Apple macOS, Unix and Microsoft Windows. The QCAD GUI is based on the Qt framework.
Open Design Alliance is a nonprofit organization creating SDKs for engineering applications. ODA offers interoperability tools for .dwg, .dxf, .dgn, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, and .ifc files and a technology stack for visualization, web development, 3D PDF publishing, modeling, and more.
IntelliCAD is a CAD-software programming toolkit and API published by the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium ("ITC"). IntelliCAD aims to emulate the basic interface and functions of AutoCAD. Unlike typical CAD programs, ITC IntelliCAD is not sold directly to end users. ITC IntelliCAD is exclusively licensed to Consortium members who pay fees in exchange for permission and guidance to include IntelliCAD technology in final OEM "IntelliCAD" products with their own end user license agreements. The ITC has nearly 50 members.
BricsCAD is a software application for computer-aided design (CAD), developed by Bricsys nv. The company was founded in 2002 by Erik de Keyser, a longtime CAD entrepreneur. In 2011 Bricsys acquired the intellectual property rights from Ledas for constraints-based parametric design tools, permitting the development of applications in the areas of direct modeling and assembly design. Bricsys is headquartered in Ghent, Belgium, has additional development centers in Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk, Russia; Bucharest, Romania and Singapore. Bricsys is a founding member of the Open Design Alliance, and joined the BuildingSMART International consortium in December 2016.

Advance Steel is a CAD software application for 3D modeling and detailing of steel structures and automatic creation of fabrication drawings, bill of materials and NC files, was developed by GRAITEC, but is now an Autodesk product. The software run on AutoCAD.
FreeCAD is a free and open-source general-purpose parametric 3D computer-aided design (CAD) modeler and a building information modeling (BIM) software with finite element method (FEM) support. FreeCAD is intended for mechanical engineering product design but also expands to a wider range of uses around engineering, such as architecture or electrical engineering. Because of the free and open-source nature of the software, users can extend the functionality of the software using the Python programming language. FreeCAD is currently in a beta stage of development.

FINE MEP is a BIM CAD software tool for Building services engineering design, built on top of IntelliCAD. It provides full IFC support, according to the 2x3 IFC Standard. FINE BIM structure, enables a smart model shaping and high design accuracy, directly applied to the real 3D building model and its building services. Not only the building elements, but also the components of the mechanical/electrical installations themselves are all intelligent objects carrying their own attributes and interacting among each other. MEP design is supported by specific CAD commands and further facilitated through sophisticated recognition and validation algorithms, providing a user-friendly modeling environment.

ABViewer is multifunctional software for working with AutoCAD DWG, DXF, PLT, STEP, IGES, STL and other 2D and 3D CAD files. The application allows creating and editing drawings as well as saving them to AutoCAD DWG/DXF, PDF, JPG and a number of other vector and raster file formats.
