Pseudogastromyzon is a genus of gastromyzontid loaches from fast-flowing streams and rivers in China.
There are currently 7 recognized species in this genus: [1]
Acrossocheilus is a genus of ray-finned fishes in the family Cyprinidae, native to freshwater in China, Taiwan, Laos, and Vietnam. They are fairly small, no more than 30 cm (1 ft) in standard length.
Cyprinus is the genus of typical carps in family Cyprinidae. Most species in the genus are of East Asia origin with only the common carp in Western Asia and Europe; this invasive species has also been introduced to many other regions around the world. Cyprinus are closely related to some more barb-like genera, such as Cyclocheilichthys and Barbonymus (tinfoils). The crucian carps (Carassius) of western Eurasia, which include the goldfish, are apparently not as closely related.
Yangchuanosaurus is an extinct genus of metriacanthosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived in China from the Middle Jurassic to Late Jurassic periods, and was similar in size and appearance to its North American and European relative, Allosaurus. Yangchuanosaurus hails from the Upper Shaximiao Formation and was the largest predator in a landscape that included the sauropods Mamenchisaurus and Omeisaurus and the stegosaurs Chialingosaurus, Tuojiangosaurus and Chungkingosaurus. This theropod was named after the area in which was discovered, Yongchuan, in China.
The australopithecines, formally Australopithecina or Hominina, are generally any species in the related genera of Australopithecus and Paranthropus. It may also include members of Kenyanthropus, Ardipithecus, and Praeanthropus. The term comes from a former classification as members of a distinct subfamily, the Australopithecinae. They are now classified within the Australopithecina subtribe of the Hominini tribe. All these related species are now sometimes collectively termed australopithecines, australopiths or homininans. They are the extinct, close relatives of modern humans and, together with the extant genus Homo, comprise the human clade. Members of the human clade, i.e. the Hominini after the split from the chimpanzees, are now called Hominina.
Glyptothorax is a genus of catfishes order Siluriformes of the family Sisoridae. It is the most species-rich and widely distributed genus in the family with new species being discovered on a regular basis. These species are distributed in the Black Sea basin, northern Turkey, south and east to the Yangtze River drainage in China and south throughout Indo-China to Java, Indonesia. They are found in Asia Minor and southwards to Southeast Asia. The genus is very diverse in the Indian subcontinent. Southeast Asian species tend to have restricted distributions.
Acheilognathus is a genus of cyprinid fish native to Asia. The name is derived from the Greek a, meaning "without", the Greek cheilos, meaning "lip", and the Greek gnathos, meaning "jaw".
Hemibagrus is a genus of catfishes of the family Bagridae.
Onychostoma is a genus of cyprinid fish found in eastern Asia.
Schistura is a genus of fish in the stone loach family Nemacheilidae native to the streams and rivers of the southern and eastern Asia. Some of these species are troglobitic.
Sinogastromyzon is a genus of hillstream loaches native to eastern Asia.
Siniperca or the Chinese perch is a genus of temperate perches native to freshwater habitats in continental East Asia. Although its native ranges can extend to northern Vietnam, the majority of the species are entirely or largely restricted to China.
Hypsibarbus is a genus of cyprinid fish that is found in freshwater in Mainland Southeast Asia, including the Thai-Malay Peninsula.
Liniparhomaloptera is a genus of fish in the family Gastromyzontidae found in China and Vietnam.
Vanmanenia is a genus of loaches from China and mainland Southeast Asia.
Aphyocypris is a genus of cyprinid fishes consisting of eight species, all of which are restricted to East Asia.
Discogobio is a genus of cyprinid fish that are found in eastern Asia. So far the 16 species have only been identified from China and Vietnam wherein each species is endemic to the country in which it is found.
Microphysogobio is a genus of freshwater fish in the family Cyprinidae native to East Asia.
Pseudolaubuca is a genus of cyprinid fish from eastern Asia. There are currently four species in this genus.
Neodontobutis is a genus of freshwater sleepers native to eastern Asia.
Simpsonotus is an extinct genus of notoungulate mammals in the family Henricosborniidae from the Middle to Late Paleocene of South America. Fossils of the genus have been found in the Mealla Formation, a fluvial and lacustrine sedimentary unit of the Salta Basin in northwestern Argentina. The genus name honors paleontologist George Gaylord Simpson.
