Rearts (Stylized and often referred to as rearts) is a Pakistani music distribution, record label and artist management company. It started in 2018 as a startup at the Plan 9 Incubator, a startup incubation program by the Punjab Information Technology Board. [2] It has two divisions, Rearts for Artists, the artist representation and management division and Rearts Records, a digital record label. [3] [3]

Contents

Many Pakistani musicians such as Kashmir, Bayaan and Naseer & Shahab are signed with the company.

The company's office is located at Daftarkhwan Central- 90 B Hali Road, Block B, Gulberg 2 in Lahore. [4]

History

Rearts began as a startup at the Punjab Information Technology Board’s Plan-9 Incubator startup program in Lahore. [5]

Present

Rearts presently has a number of artists signed up with them. The company is responsible for distributing and release of songs and albums and also has arranged musical events and concerts in Pakistan.

Songs and albums released under the Rearts Records banner are released digitally internationally on music streaming platforms such as Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, Amazon Music, iTunes, Deezer, Google Play Music, Tidal, Saavn, Genius and Pandora. [6]

Rearts has also organized many musical events in Pakistan ranging from album launches of its artists to music festivals. In 2019, the company organized a fundraising concert at the Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore featuring the musical acts Kashmir, Badnaam and Bayaan to raise money for the eradication of Polio in Pakistan. [7] Similarly, the previous year, it organized a motivational speaking event titled Failure Nights – Celebrating Failure which featured live music as well. [8] Other events organized by Rearts include Rang-E-Kainat, [9] Fashion Revolution Week, Face Music Mela [10] and the 2019 Mango Musik Festival in Islamabad. [11]

In 2019, Rearts provided the Laser harp, the only one instrument available in Pakistan currently to be featured in Season 5 of the popular Pakistani music show Nescafe Basement. [12] [13] The Laser Harp was featured in the song Resistance by 18 year old Lahore based EDM singer Abdullah Siddiqui and was played by Ahmad Butt who also serves as the managing director of Rearts. Rearts has partnered with many Pakistani companies on different occasions such as Abacus Consulting, Beaconhouse School System, Telenor Pakistan and ProperGaanda.

Rearts for Artists is the artist management division of Rearts. It is responsible for the management of artists under the company in different ways. It provides artists with services such as creating their portfolios, media solutions, legal representation, event management and public relations. [3]

Rearts Records (Stylized as often referred to as rearts records) is the record label division of Rearts. It is responsible for the distribution and release of songs, EPs and albums of artists signed with the label to multiple international digital streaming platforms such as Spotify, Saavn, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Google Play Music and Deezer. [19]

Rearts Records is also responsible for music PR, design services as well as providing copyright and licensing support. It also organizes album launches and event tours for its artists.

Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan Artist, Songwriter, Music Producer

Zulfiqar "Xulfi" Jabbar Khan, commonly known as Xulfi, is a Pakistani singer-songwriter and music producer. Starting his career in 1994, Khan is the recipient of multiple awards in Pakistan. He is currently working on the television series Nescafé Basement, for which he is the producer and mentor.

<i>Nescafé Basement</i> television series

Nescafé Basement is a Pakistani music television series which features live studio-recorded music performances by underground artists. The show is produced by Nescafé. The artists are recruited and mentored by Xulfi, who is also the music producer of the show. The first song released from Nescafé Basement was a cover of Sajjad Ali's "Larri Adda".

Naseer & Shahab is a Pakistani soft alternative rock band from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Formed in 2010, the band rose to stardom with their debut single "Za Pukhtoon Yam". The band is a duo of Naseer Afridi, who is a lead vocalist, musician and songwriter, and Shahab Qamar, a producer, director and web designer. Naseer & Shahab release singles independently, in mainly Pashtu language, propelled to international success by social media, Naseer & Shahab's four singles "Za Pukhtoon Yam" (2012), "Za Sta Pashan Na Yam" (2012), "Meray Yaar" (2012) and "Ghalti Mein Shta" (2014), tops many charts and made them most influential and first Pashtu rock band of Pakistan.

"Ghalti Mein Shta" is a 2014 Pashtu language single by Pakistani Soft Alternative rock band Naseer & Shahab. It was released on August 23, 2014 as a digital download. It is a soulful Pashtu love-inspired ballad that depicts the female protagonist remembers her lover who is lost long, she visits his grave hoping one day she will see him. The song is written and composed by Naseer Afridi while directed, produced and co-composed by Shahab Qamar.

Yasir Hussain is a screenwriter, playwright and host from Islamabad best known for his comic roles. He hosted The After Moon Show on Hum TV. He is also known for playing antagonist in 2018 social drama Baandi.

Taazi

Taazi is a Pakistani website and smartphone application focusing on music. It is the online music streaming service and a digital distributor of Lollywood, Coke Studio and other regional Pakistani music across the world. Taazi describes itself as a platform to combat piracy and give local musicians a medium to monetize their music through its unique billing system. Taazi features content of both established and upcoming musicians.

Lahore Music Meet

Lahore Music Meet (LMM) is an annual two-day event. LMM is primarily dedicated to celebration and critique of Music in Pakistan. LMM is intended to gather music enthusiasts, artists, people from music industry and academicians involved in music. Lahore Music Meet was founded by Natasha Noorani, Zahra Paracha, Noor Habib, Ayesha Haroon and Hasan Abbas.

Momina Mustehsan Pakistani singer, song-writer

Momina Mustehsan is a Pakistani singer-songwriter, musician and social activist. In 2017, BBC named her one of the 100 most influential women, and the following year, Forbes featured her among its "30 Under 30" Asia list along with nine other Pakistani individuals. Mustehsan later sang the song "Awari" for the Indian thriller film Ek Villain (2014). In season 9, she performed a rendition of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's "Afreen Afreen", with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and received critical appraisal. Mustehsan next releases, the singles, "Aaya Na Tu" (2018) and "Baari" (2019), topped the music charts in the country.

Nighat Chaudhry (classical dancer) Pakistani actress

Nighat Chaodhry was born on 24 February, in Lahore Pakistan and moved to London when she was one year old. She is a trained Sufi & Mystique Kathak Classical dancer. She started her journey from London and has been active as a professional Kathak dancer for over three decades. She studied Ballet and Contemporary dance. She met Nahid Siddiqui at age of fourteen, regarded as one of the greatest Kathak dancers and trained under her guidance. Inspired to learn the Classical forms of her own culture, she abandoned ballet and join to understand and absorb the nuances of the style. This required her to be closer to its origins and she moved back to Pakistan.

<i>Pepsi Battle of the Bands</i> television series

Pepsi Battle of the Bands is a Pakistani television series, originally based on the concept of Battle of the Bands, first aired in 2002 on PTV Home. The show was revived in 2017.

Abdullah Qureshi (singer) Pakistani singer, songwriter, and musician.

Abdullah Qureshi is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, and music composer. Born in Islamabad, Abdullah gained recognition from his covers on YouTube. Qureshi also featured in popular music TV program Nescafé Basement Season 4 and performed an original song Awaz Do.

Farhad Humayun is a Pakistani singer, drummer, record producer and video artist. He is most popularly associated with the Pakistani drum jam band Overload which he founded in 2003. Farhad started his career as underground musician and formed two bands Co-Ven and Mindriot in which he played drums. He has identified, produced and launched some of South Asia's top acts such as Atif Aslam, Symt, Meesha Shafi. Humayun has won numerous awards and accolades for both his audio & video work and owns Riot Studios, the famous recording studio and gig venue in Lahore.

Haroon and Sharoon Leo, professionally known as Leo Twins, are Pakistani musicians and multi-instrumentalists. Leo Twins started their career in popular TV show Nescafé Basement. The twin brothers have been a regular part of the house band in Nescafe Basement produced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan.

Bayaan is a progressive/alternative rock band from Lahore, Pakistan. It is the winning band of Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 3 in 2018. Appeared in Nescafe Basement, the band has performed throughout Pakistan before appearing in Pepsi Battle of the Bands. The 5-member band consists of Asfar Hussain (vocalist), Haider Abbas (bassist), Shahrukh Aslam (guitarist), Muqeet Shahzad (guitarist), and Mansoor Lashari (drummer). The band members Shahzad and Abbas knew each other for more than a decade and played together in the school band. They moved to the underground music circuit and met Mansoor Lashari. In between, Lashari and Abbas became a part of Nescafe Basement where they performed with Hussain and Aslam. Thus, Bayaan came into existence.

<i>Acoustic Station</i> Pakistans first music web series produced by Kashan Admani

Acoustic Station is Pakistan's first music web series that produces live music performed in a studio featuring new and established artists. A concept of Kashan Admani, Acoustic Station focuses on introducing the sound of acoustic ensemble recorded live in a studio.
