Rebekah Baines Johnson (June 26, 1881 – September 12, 1958) was the mother of 36th President of the United States Lyndon B. Johnson.

She was born to Joseph Wilson Baines (1846–1906) and Ruth Ament Huffmann Baines (1854–1936) on June 26, 1881, in McKinney, Texas. [1] On August 20, 1907, she married state legislator Samuel Ealy Johnson Jr. They had five children together. [1]

Joseph Wilson Baines was Secretary of State of Texas and a member of the Texas state legislature.

Samuel Ealy Johnson Jr. was an American businessman and politician. He was a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives representing the 89th District. He served in the 29th, 30th, 35th, 37th, and 38th Texas Legislatures. He was the father of the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson, and the son of Samuel Ealy Johnson Sr. He was a struggling farmer and cattle speculator who lived in the Texas Hill Country.

She died on September 12, 1958, in Austin, Texas at age 77. [2]
