Ruth Ruggero Hughs is a lawyer and the Texas Secretary of State. She served as the chairwoman of the Texas Workforce Commission since August 2018. A Republican, she is a native of Argentina. [1] She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the New Jersey State Bar and chair of the Advisory Council on Cultural Affairs. Hughs is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and a received a degree from Rutgers Camden School of Law. [2]
