Pavel Snapkou of Showbiz By PS described the song as "simple, light, yet piercing in its emotional core," comparing it to the best examples of mid-tempo ballads by members of Fleetwood Mac. He also noted that Cyrus's vocals are most effective when they are raw and unpolished, rather than heavily processed in the studio.[19]
