Bellary Shamanna Kesavan was the first National Librarian of independent India (1947–1962). He is also known as Father of Indian National Bibliography as it was first brought out in his leadership on 15 August 1958. Later, he became the first Director of the Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre (INSDOC) at New Delhi (1963–1969). In recognition of his great service to the nation, the Government of India honoured him with Padma Shri. He died on 16 February 2000, at the age of 91.

1345 Potomac, provisional designation 1908 CG, is a dark Hildian asteroid from the outermost regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 73 kilometers (45 mi) in diameter. It was discovered on 4 February 1908, by American astronomer Joel Metcalf at the Taunton Observatory in Massachusetts, United States. The X-type asteroid has a rotation period of 11.4 hours. It was named for the Potomac River on which Washington, D.C. is located.

Lanthanolania is an extinct genus of diapsid from Middle Permian deposits of Arkhangel'sk Province, Russia. It is known from the holotype and only specimen PIN 162/56, a nearly complete skull from the Glyadnaya Shchelya locality, Mezen river in Mesen District. It was first named by Sean P. Modesto and Robert R. Reisz in 2003 and the type species is Lanthanolania ivakhnenkoi.

The Road Up Raritan Historic District is a 69-acre (28 ha) historic district located along River Road in the township of Piscataway in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It is north of Raritan Landing, once an important inland port on the Raritan River during the 18th and 19th centuries. The name is taken from an earlier colonial era name for what was once a Lenape path, Assunpink Trail that became a main road parallel to the river. Piscataway Township itself was formed on December 18, 1666 as one of the first seven townships in East Jersey, and is one of the oldest municipalities in the state. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 18, 1997, for its significance in architecture, military history, and exploration/settlement. The district includes nine of fourteen historic homes along an approximately 1.2-mile (1.9 km) stretch of River Road. The Metlar-Bodine House and the Cornelius Low House are also in the immediate vicinity.

In 1793, the property was made available for purchase as a result of John Witherspoon's declining age, and was sought after by many refugees. The property was often visited by George Washington and his wife, Martha, during Witherspoon's tenure as president of Princeton University. In 2013 the home was sold for $5.5 million.

The siege of Antibes took place in the winter of 1746–47, during the War of the Austrian Succession. A combined Austro-Savoyard army, commanded by Maximilian Ulysses Browne, invaded France and laid siege to Antibes on the French Mediterranean coast. Despite having British naval support, the Allies failed to capture the town, and after two months Browne's army was forced to lift the siege and retreat back over the border into Savoy.
