Kazi Sharmin Nahid Nupur (born 17 December 1975 [1] or 1979 [2] ), known by her stage name Shabnur, is a Bangladeshi film actress. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Dui Noyoner Alo (2005). [4]

Background

Kazi Sharmin Nahid Nupur was born on 17 December 1975 [1] or 1979 [2] at Navaron, Jashore, Bangladesh. Her father is Shahjahan Chowdhury. She has a sister and a brother–Jhumur and Tamal. [2] [3] [5]

Career

Shabnur debuted her career with co-actor Shabbir in the 1993 film Chandni Raatey , directed by Ehtesham. Her first hit movie was Hridoy Amar with Amin Khan. She got her breakthrough in her Third film Tumi Amar, co-acted with Salman Shah in 1994. [6]

Shabnur co-acted with Salman until his death in 1996. She later acted with Omar Sunny, Riaz, Ferdous Ahmed, and Shakib Khan, among others. [7]

After a year-long break, two films, Bhalobasha Saint Martin-e and Attogopon, with Shabnur were released in 2012. [8] In 2013, she acted in Kichhu Asha Kicchu Bhalobasha. [3]

After a years-long acting hiatus, Shabnur is slated to appear in two films in pre-production in 2024, Rangana , a thriller film directed by Arafat Hossain, and Matal Hawa, a film to be directed by Chayanika Chowdhury. [9] [10]

Personal life

Shabnur got engaged with Anik Mahmud, a businessman, on 6 December 2011 and married on 28 December 2012. [11] [12] [13] The couple officially got divorced on 26 January 2020 due to compatibility issues. [14] Together they have a son. [5] [15]

Shabnur established a school, Sydney International School, in Baridhara, Dhaka in 2011. [8] She resides in Sydney, Australia. [16] She is an Australian citizen since 2012. [3]

Awards

In 2004 Shabnur won the Bachsas Award for best actress in the film Bou Shashurir Juddho  [ bn ]. [17]

She won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress in 2006 for her role in the film Dui Noyoner Alo (2005), [4] and won Meril Prothom Alo Awards for best actress ten times. [8]

In 2011 she received the CJFB Performance Award for Best Actress in the 2010 film Ebhabei Bhalobasha Hoy . [18]

Sabbir Nasir is a Bangladeshi singer, composer, songwriter. He works on folk fusion, indie pop and blues music. He started performing on stage at the age of 16. He was the vocalist and the lead guitarist of different bands. His last band, Metamorphosis published their first and last album in 1998. Since 1998 till 2018, Sabbir was out of the musical scene. He started singing again in 2018 at the studios and on stages and some of his folk and Blues songs became very much popular among Bangladeshi and Indian Audience. Some of his top Folk singles are "Binodini Rai" which is a duet song, sung along with Sampa Biswas from India, "Amare Dia Dilam Tomare", "Tumi Dome Dom" etc. He got CJFB Award in 2020 for his Single "Horsho". He was recognized with Safekeeper Channel i Digital Award in 2021 for his song "Amare Dia Dilam Tomare". In 2021, for his single "Adha" he won the bronze award in the Male singer category at the Global Music Awards program, organised by a California-based organisation. Dui Noyoner Alo is a 2005 Bangladeshi romantic drama film directed by Mostafizur Rahman Manik. The film is produced by Humayun Kabir under the banner of Navdhara Films. It stars Shabnur, Ferdous Ahmed, Shakil Khan and Bulbul Ahmed. It revolves around the life struggle of a low-income young woman and her struggle for dignity. The film was released on May 13, 2005. Shabnur won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in it. The film also won two more awards in the music category.

Nasrin is a retired Bangladeshi film actress who mainly played supporting roles. She made her debut in Sohanur Rahman Sohan's film Love in 1992. The same year, her film Agnishapath was also released. In 2019, It's been announced that her biopic will be made to honor her career and achievement.
