The Somerset Wind Farm is a wind farm in Somerset County, Pennsylvania with six GE 1.5 MW Wind Turbines that began commercial operation in October 2001. The wind farm has a combined total nameplate capacity of 9 MW, and produces about 25,000 megawatt-hours of electricity annually, which is roughly a 30% capacity factor. [1] The wind farm was constructed by NextEra Energy Resources, based in Florida. [2]

The wind farm is just one-half mile (0.80 km) south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which makes its 215-foot-tall (66 m) [3] towers easily visible to turnpike travelers. [4]

Smoky Hills Wind Farm

The Smoky Hills Wind Farm is a 250 megawatt (MW) wind farm in Lincoln and Ellsworth Counties, 140 miles west of Topeka in Kansas, north of Ellsworth. The farm is operated by Enel Green Power. Highway K-14 and Interstate 70 pass through parts of the wind farm, with clear views of many of the wind turbines. The project uses 56 Vestas V80 1.8 MW wind turbines and produces enough electricity to power some 37,000 average Kansas homes annually. As of 19 November 2008, phase II is under construction with 99 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines for an additional 148.5 MW, to bring the total nameplate capacity to 249.3 MW. Phase II was completed and began commercial operation in December 2008.

The Fowler Ridge Wind Farm is a wind farm in Benton County, Indiana, near the city of Fowler, IN about 30 miles (48 km) northwest of Lafayette and 90 miles (140 km) northwest of Indianapolis. Armenia Mountain Wind Farm is a wind farm in Tioga County and Armenia Township in Bradford County in the Northern Tier region of Pennsylvania. The wind farm has 67 GE 1.5 MW Wind Turbines that began commercial operation in January 2010. Armenia Mountain has a combined total nameplate capacity of 101 megawatts and produces enough electricity to power over 40,000 homes. Power produced by the wind farm is sold to Old Dominion Electric Cooperative and to Delmarva Power & Light Company.

The Casselman Wind Power Project is a wind farm in Somerset County, Pennsylvania with 23 GE 1.5 MW Wind Turbines that began commercial operation in 2007. The wind farm has a combined total nameplate capacity of 34.5 megawatts, but actually produces about 90,666 megawatt-hours of electricity annually. The wind farm was developed by PPM Energy and constructed by Iberdrola, based in Spain. Power produced at the wind farm is distributed by First Energy.

Meadow Lake Wind Farm Wind farm in Indiana, USA

Meadow Lake Wind Farm is an 801.25 megawatt (MW) wind farm near Brookston and Chalmers, Indiana, spreading over portions of White, Jasper, and Benton Counties. It is owned and operated by EDP Renewables North America. The facility currently has six operational phases, with 414 turbines, and is a prominent feature on both sides of Interstate 65 in western Indiana.

Criterion Wind Project

The Criterion Wind Project is a wind farm located on Backbone Mountain east of Oakland, Maryland, United States. The project has a rated capacity of 70 MW and uses 28 Liberty Wind Turbines manufactured by Clipper Windpower. Each of the wind turbines is about 415 feet tall. The Criterion Wind Project is owned by Criterion Power Partners, LLC, which is a subisiary of Exelon, and interconnected with the transmission system of the Potomac Edison Company. Electricity and renewable energy credits from the project are sold to the Old Dominion Electric Cooperative under a 20-year supply contract.

South Chestnut Wind Project

The South Chestnut Wind Farm is a wind farm located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania with 23 2.0 MW Gamesa G87s that began commercial operation in 2012. The wind farm has a combined total nameplate capacity of 46 MW. The wind farm was developed by Iberdrola, and power produced by the wind farm is sold to Washington, D.C.
