Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University is a public state university located at Chabua, Dibrugarh district, Assam. The university was established by The Assam Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University Act, 2018 which was passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly on 26 September 2018 [1] and received the assent of the governor of Assam on 10 December 2018. [2] On 10 July 2020 Jai Prakash Verma took charge as the first vice-chancellor of the university. [3] The university is currently functioning from Dibrugarh University Campus.

Academics

The university offers four-year undergraduate program in Physical Education-BPEd (Hons) course from academic year 2020–21, with exit points after the completion of one, two or three years, which award a certificate, diploma or bachelor's degree, respectively, per the National Education Policy 2020. [4]

Dibrugarh University is a collegiate public state university in the Indian state of Assam. It is located at Dibrugarh, Assam, India. It is the second oldest University in Assam and in the North East. It was set up on 1 July 1965 under the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965 enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. The University was established to build it as a Center of Science and Technology. As the University was planned as a centre of higher education in science and technology, Bhoj Raj Seth, an eminent mathematician of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, was appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor at the initiative of the then Education Minister of Assam, Dev Kant Barooah.

Sarbananda Sonowal is an Indian politician who has served as Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways since 2021. He also has been the Member of the Rajya Sabha representing Assam since 2021 and also a member of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs since 2021. He previously served as the 14th Chief Minister of Assam from 2016 to 2021 and as a member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Majuli from 2016 to 2021 and for Moran from 2001 to 2004. Sonowal earlier served as the Assam state unit President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2012 to 2014 and again from 2015 to 2016. He also served as the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India, from 2014 to 2016 and the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development from 2014 to 2014 and the member of the Lok Sabha from Lakhimpur from 2014 to 2016 and from Dibrugarh from 2004 to 2009. The Board of Secondary Education, Assam commonly known as SEBA, was the state education regulatory board under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Education, Government of Assam for conducting examinations and providing assurance for the quality of education imparted in schools within Assam, India that are affiliated to it. The Bogibeel Bridge is a combined road and rail bridge over the Brahmaputra River in the northeastern Indian state of Assam between Dhemaji district and Dibrugarh district, which was started in the year 2002 and took a total of 200 months(16 years and 8 months) to complete, Bogibeel river bridge is the longest rail-cum-road bridge in India, measuring 4.94 kilometres over the Brahmaputra river. As it is situated in an earthquake-prone area it is India's first bridge to have fully welded steel-concrete support beams that can withstand earthquakes of magnitudes up to 7 on the Richter scale. It is Asia's second longest rail-cum-road bridge and has a serviceable period of around 120 years.

Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Junior College is a Junior College located at Boiragimoth, Dibrugarh, Assam, India. It has been established in the year 1997. During the initial years up to 2011 it provided +2 level education only in the Science stream and hence named a Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Junior Science College. It has introduced commerce stream from the 2012 session and the arts stream from the Academic Session 2013-14 and hence the college was renamed as Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Junior College.

Gargaon College, established in 1959, is a general degree college situated at Simaluguri, in Sibsagar district, Assam. It is affiliated with Dibrugarh University.

Madhabdev University is a public state university located in Narayanpur, Assam. The university is established by The Assam Act No. XXXV of 2017 which was passed by the Government of Assam on 7 September 2017. It was created by upgrading Madhavdev College of Narayanpur, North Lakhimpur.

Surjya Kanta Hazarika is an Assamese litterateur, an eminent scholar, author, journalist, poet, publisher, playwright, lyricist, composer, cultural activist, feature film and documentary maker, social worker and philanthropist. Hazarika is a recipient of the Padma Shri Award in 2008 for his contribution to Literature & Education. He is the current president of Asam Sahitya Sabha.
