History

It was founded by Sultan Badlishah of Kedah on 30 October 1952.[ citation needed ]

Recipients

It is as a reward for conspicuous acts of gallantry by the military, police or civilians, but of a standard less than the Star of Valour (B.K.K). This Medal may be awarded posthumously. [2]

Al-Mu’tassimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah was the 28th Sultan of Kedah from 1958 until his death in 2017, and served twice as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong from 1970 to 1975 and from 2011 to 2016. He was the first and only ruler to reign as Yang di-Pertuan Agong twice, as well as the oldest elected to the office. Prior to his death, he was the second longest-reigning living monarch in the world after Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

Sultan Sir Badlishah ibni Almarhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah was the 27th Sultan of Kedah and reigned from 1943 and 1958. He ascended to the throne upon the death of his father, Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim. He was the elder half brother of the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Tunku Annuar ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah was a member of the Kedah royal family and the Chairman of the Regency Council of the Malaysian state of Kedah from December 2011 until his death in May 2014. He was the son of Sultan Badlishah and the half-brother of Sultan Abdul Halim.

Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah is the 29th Sultan of Kedah since ascending to the throne in September 2017 upon the death of his elder half-brother Abdul Halim. As the fourth son of Badlishah of Kedah, that lived to adulthood he was initially not expected to inherit the throne.
