The Most Esteemed Royal Family Order of Kelantan or the Star of Yunus (Malay: Darjah Kerabat Yang Amat Di-Hormati or Bintang al-Yunusi) is an honorific order of the Sultanate of Kelantan.
Instituted on 9 August 1916, this order is conferred on members of the Kelantan royal family and members of other royal families in Malaysia. It is also presented to individuals in high positions who have contributed significantly to the State. [1]
The order is awarded in a single class, Star of Yunus or Bintang al-Yunusi (DK). The maximum number of recipients at one time is 25 living persons, but there are no limits for honorary recipients of the order. [1]
Sultan Yahya Petra ibni Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim was Sultan of Kelantan from 1960, and the sixth Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the constitutional monarch of Malaysia, from 1975, until his death in 1979.
Tunku Puan Zanariah binti Almarhum Tengku Ahmad, formerly known as Sultanah Zanariah, was the second wife of Sultan Iskandar of Johor from their marriage in 1961 until his death in 2010. She served as Raja Permaisuri Agong between 1984 and 1989.
Al-Wathiqu Billah Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah is Sultan of Terengganu, reigning since 1998. He previously reigned as the thirteenth Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the constitutional monarch of Malaysia, from 2006 to 2011.
Sultan Ismail Petra ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra was the 28th Sultan of Kelantan and the 11th Sultan of Modern Kelantan who reigned from 30 March 1979 to 13 September 2010. He succeeded on the death of his father, Sultan Yahya Petra. Sultan Ismail Petra died at the Royal Ward Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu on 28 September 2019, aged 69, after 10 years of suffering from a massive stroke and was buried at the Kelantan Royal Mausoleum. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Sultan Muhammad V who ascended the throne on 13 September 2010.
Tun Ahmad Fairuz bin Sheikh Abdul Halim is a retired Malaysian lawyer who served as the fourth Chief Justice of Malaysia. A controversial figure, he held that position from 2003 to 2006. In August 2006, he courted controversy by suggesting the abolishment of English Common Law to be replaced by Islamic Syariah Law. He retired in November 2006 and was replaced on 2 November 2006 by Abdul Hamid Mohamad as the Chief Justice.
