Stephanocereus is genus of cactus from Brazil, related to Arrojadoa . This genus is monotypic with the sole species Stephanocereus leucostele [1]
Stephanocereus leucostele is a tall, segmented cactus with a blue stem. Unbranched or sparsely branched, Stems can reach upwards of 2 meters tall and have around 18 obtuse ribs. The areoles, spaced 12-16 mm, have 12-16 radial spines and 4-6 strong central spines, all are yellowish in color. Ribs are triangular with rounded edges around 5mm high. The tubular flower arise from the brownish ring-like cephalium that segments the stem. Fruits are glabrous, almost spherical, and 4 by 3.5 centimeters. [2]
