STRIX Television is a Swedish television production company that was founded in 1988. The Swedish mother company, at the time owned by MTG, had offices in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Oslo, Tel Aviv and Prague. Today, there are two individual companies named Strix, Strix Television in Sweden and Strix Televisjon in Norway, both owned by Fremantle.

It is a major international contributor to the format of reality television known as 'Survivor'. Since 1997 Strix has produced Expedition Robinson for an ever-increasing audience throughout Europe. The company has also developed, produced and distributed other reality formats, such as The Farm , The Bar , and Harem. [1] [2]

Seeing the success of the Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish versions of the show TV4 assumed that their own version would also be a huge success. They were wrong in their assumption and due to competition from shows like Big Brother after two seasons the show was cancelled due to low ratings.

Expedition Robinson was the Swiss version of the Swedish reality show Expedition Robinson and it debuted in September 1999. Seeing the success of the Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish versions of the show TV3 in Switzerland decided to produce their own version of the show. Due to low ratings, the show was cancelled after just two seasons. At the time the show was cancelled the third season was nearly done being shot. Despite this the third season was never broadcast.

Survivor India is an Indian reality television game show franchise based on the Swedish show Expedition Robinson created in 1997 by Charlie Parsons. It is produced by Banijay India. Subsequently, the show was syndicated internationally and available through Zee5 OTT platforms. Survivor India was originally in Hindi in 2012 and was adapted in Tamil in 2021.
