Summerstock Conservatory was a theatre company based out of Westmount Charter School in Calgary, Alberta from 2002 to 2012. Every year, between 1 and 14 August, high school and young post-secondary students from across Canada performed a play in Olympic Plaza.
Summerstock Conservatory, formally MainStage, was founded in 2002 by Jim Senft, who directed Summerstock's first show, Guys and Dolls . [1] [2] Other performances included Fiddler on the Roof in 2004, [3] Annie Get Your Gun in 2005, [4] and Footloose in 2007. [5] Summerstock continued performing shows annually until the group disbanded in 2012.
While Jim Senft was the original director of Summerstock, he took a yearlong break in 2005 from the Calgary show, to branch out to Toronto to create another Summerstock Conservatory. Another running of Guys and Dolls was held in Toronto, produced and co-directed by Joan Mansfield, a professional theatre producer based in Toronto, during Calgary's production of Annie Get Your Gun . During that time, the current tech director in Calgary, Josh Collins, also took the position of artistic director.[ citation needed ] The following year, Jim Senft returned to Calgary, and continued to act as the artistic director of the program. From the beginning of the program, the Executive Producer was Brandi Sedore, [4] who was also a secretary at Westmount Charter School, where Summerstock held its rehearsals. However, in 2007, Brandi officially stepped down from her position and Kathryn Waters took over for the production of Footloose . Nonetheless, Brandi returned for the 2007–2008 year, and continued until Jayson Krause took over as Executive Producer for the 2010–2011 year.[ citation needed ]
Educational coursework for Summerstock was offered through Westmount Charter School, which awarded Alberta high school credits in courses relating to the activities of its cast and technical crew. Cast members were able to receive high school credit while performing in Summerstock. [6] [3] The company also provided a scholarship program for graduating cast members from its ticket sales. [3] The company also offered financial compensation to certain university members each year, who worked for Summerstock during the summer, generally as lead cast members. Further, each year, contributing high schools received grants to help run their respective drama departments, offered through The Summerstock Foundation, the charitable arm of Summerstock.[ citation needed ]
The Summerstock Theatre Festival was an annual outdoor performance of a musical held in the Arts District in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Based on the premise of the traditional Summerstock Theatre, this program presented Broadway-style theatre outdoors at Olympic Plaza. Performers were Calgary high school and university students, who came home from all across Canada to perform Broadway musicals.[ citation needed ]
In American theater, summer stock theater is a theater that presents stage productions only in the summer. The name combines the season with the tradition of staging shows by a resident company, reusing stock scenery and costumes. Summer stock theaters frequently take advantage of seasonal weather by having their productions outdoors, under tents set up temporarily for their use, or in barns.

Alberta charter schools are a special type of public schools which have a greater degree of autonomy than a normal public school, to allow them to offer programs that are significantly different from regular public schools operated by district school boards. Charter schools report directly to the province, bypassing their local district school board, may not exceed their assigned quota of students without provincial permission, and are currently limited to fifteen schools. Alberta charter schools are publicly funded and the school associations must be non-profit societies. The charter schools cannot have a religious affiliation, cannot charge tuition, and cannot operate on a for-profit basis. The teachers must be certified, and the curriculum must follow the approved provincial curriculum. Alberta, which passed enabling legislation in 1994, is the only province in Canada to have charter schools.

Westmount Charter School is a charter school for gifted learners based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada which educates students from kindergarten to grade 12. It was founded in 1996 as ABC Charter Public School by the Action for Bright Children Society.
Broadway by the Bay, is a community-based musical theatre company located in the San Francisco Bay Area and performing in Redwood City. It also provides a "Theatre Arts Academy" offering performing arts experiences to local children. After beginning in with productions of three annual Gilbert and Sullivan productions, the company shifted its focus to modern musicals in 1966. Since then, it has produced musicals continuously in San Mateo County. In 1983, the group changed its name to Peninsula Civic Light Opera, and again in 1999, to Broadway by the Bay.

She is best known for her roles in Heartland as Ms. Clarissa, Fargo, Season 3 as Grace Stussy, and Claire in the award-winning series, Out with Dad. She has had an incredible voice acting career with notable roles like Dawn in Total Drama: Revenge of the Island, Mikoto in My-HiME, Miu Matsuoka in Strawberry Marshmallow, and Pan in Dragon Ball GT. Her latest mainstream voice work include: Haunted House, Secrets of the Ghost Ball (Netflix), Kongsuni (Netflix), Cardfight!! Vanguard, Arthur, and Gintama. She can be seen in the final season of Hell on Wheels, Season 2 of Wynonna Earp, Season 3 of Fargo as Grace Stussy, Season 3 of The Detour and recently, Seasons 15 and 16 of Heartland, Season 2 of Tribal and Season 2 of Yellowjackets. Caitlynne is also in production for two Feature Films set for 2023 release.

Music Theatre Wichita is a summer musical theatre, which has produced over 200 Broadway-scale productions since its founding in 1972. Founded as Music Theatre of Wichita in 1972 to provide summertime entertainment inside the 2100-seat Concert Hall of the newly built Century II Complex in downtown Wichita, Kansas, the organization has had only three artistic producers to date: founding producing director Jim Miller (1972-1979), John Holly (1980-1987) and current producing artistic director Wayne Bryan (1988–present). The organization adopted its current name and logo in May 2014.
