Swallowfield Meadow is a 0.7-hectare (1.7-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Swallowfield, south of Reading in Berkshire. It is owned and managed by Swallowfield Parish Council. [1] [2]

Geography and site

The reserve features meadows, native hedgerows, a small copse, ditches, and seasonal ponds as well as the meadows themselves. [1]

History

The area that is now the meadow was transferred to the Parish Council in the mid-1990s when houses were being built in the village. [3] Before then the area had been a coal yard. [3]

On 15 July 2003, the area was officially designated as a Local Nature Reserve. [3]

The River Blackwater is a tributary of the Loddon in England and sub-tributary of the Thames. It rises at two springs in Rowhill Nature Reserve between Aldershot, Hampshire and Farnham, Surrey. It curves a course north then west to join the Loddon in Swallowfield civil parish, central Berkshire. Part of the river splits Hampshire from Surrey; a smaller part does so as to Hampshire and Berkshire.

Yeading Brook Meadows

Yeading Brook Meadows is a 17 hectare Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in Yeading in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is owned by Hillingdon Council and managed by the London Wildlife Trust (LWT). In the north it adjoins Ten Acre Wood across the Golden Bridge and Charville Lane; it then stretches south along the banks of the Yeading Brook to Yeading Lane. The reserve is also part of the Yeading Brook Meadows Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation, which includes two neighbouring LNRs managed by the London Wildlife Trust, Ten Acre Wood and Gutteridge Wood and Meadows.
