The Tablelands Advertiser is the weekly newspaper published for residents of the Atherton Tableland and Mareeba area.
The Tablelands Advertiser has a home delivery system that covers around four times the area of any other publication in the region. This means that over half of the 18,729 copies are delivered to homes, cattle stations and farms throughout the Far Northern rural region.

The Kuranda Range road is an informally named section of the Kennedy Highway in Queensland, Australia. The road traverses the Macalister Range near Cairns. The 11.5 kilometres (7.1 mi) section of road connects Smithfield, a suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region with Kuranda, a town in the Shire of Mareeba on the Atherton Tableland, at an altitude of about 360 metres (1,180 ft). Traffic is primarily limited to one lane each way, with overtaking lanes at various points. The Kuranda Skyrail cableway crosses the road twice. Henry Ross Lookout is located near the road's highest point, at an altitude of 430 metres (1,410 ft), and is named after the foreman in charge of building the road to cross the range in 1939.
Southedge-Wangetti Road is a 32-kilometre-long (20 mi) stretch of road in Far North Queensland. The road was given corridor approval by the Queensland Government and completed in early 1989 through some rainforest areas that were later declared Wet Tropics World Heritage Area in late 1989 and links Wangetti on the coast just north of Cairns, to Southedge, just south of Mount Molloy.

The Historic Village Herberton is an open-air historic museum in Herberton, Queensland. It was opened in 1977 by then Queensland Premier Joh Bjelke Petersen and was owned by Harry and Ellen Skenner, who closed it in April 2003 due to escalating public liability costs. It was reopened in 2009 by Just Jeans retail chain store founder Craig Kimberly and his wife Connie. The Village is located on a 16-acre site and comprises over 50 historically restored period buildings dating back to the 1860s, set out like a tin mining town. It is the largest private collection of its type in Queensland.
