Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi [a] is a Pakistani Islamic scholar. He is the chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council,a prominent body of religious leaders. During the premiership of Imran Khan,Ashrafi was appointed as the Special Representative to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and the Middle East. [1] [2]
Ashrafi is also the Imam and Khatib (prayer leader and sermon-giver) of the Grand Jamia Mosque in Lahore. [3] [4] [5]
He had previously also served as Advisor to President of Pakistan for Affairs of Islamic World,Advisor to Government of Punjab,former Member Council of Islamic Ideology. [6] [7]
In February 2017,Ashrafi met with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss bilateral relations between their countries. The meeting was also attended by Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs,Saleh Al Al-Sheikh. [8]
