The Human Fear is the upcoming sixth studio album by Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand, scheduled for release on 10 January 2025 through Domino. It is the band's first studio album with drummer Audrey Tait, who replaced original member Paul Thomson in 2021.
The Human Fear was recorded at AYR Studios in Scotland and produced by Mark Ralph, who previously served as a mixer and recording engineer on the band's fourth studio album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action (2013). [1] The album's title refers to the album's primary lyrical concept of fear and "searching for the thrill of being human via fears", as described by band frontman Alex Kapranos. [1] Kapranos further states that the album touches upon certain types of specific fear, including "fear of social isolation, fear of leaving an institution, [and] fear of leaving or staying in a relationship". The band announced on 9 September 2024 that they would be releasing a new song, titled "Audacious", on 11 September. The following day, fans discovered a store listing for The Human Fear, a new studio album from the band. [3] Alongside the release of "Audacious", the band confirmed that The Human Fear would be their sixth studio album, to be released on 10 January 2025 through Domino. [2]

Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 2002. Their original line-up was composed of Alex Kapranos, Nick McCarthy, Bob Hardy and Paul Thomson. Julian Corrie and Dino Bardot joined the band in 2017 after McCarthy left during the previous year, and Audrey Tait joined the band after Thomson left in 2021. The band are one of the more popular post-punk revival bands, garnering multiple UK top 20 hits. They have been nominated for several Grammy Awards and have received two Brit Awards—winning one for Best British Group—as well as one NME Award.
Franz Ferdinand is the debut studio album by Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand, first released on 9 February 2004 through the Domino Recording Company. It was recorded during 2003 at Gula Studios in Malmö, Sweden, with Tore Johansson, who produced the majority of the album, with two tracks produced by the band themselves. Several tracks from the album are featured during scenes or the closing credits of various episodes of the television show Loudermilk.
