Horton Plaza, not to be confused with its adjacent namesake Horton Plaza Park, was a five-level outdoor shopping mall located in downtown San Diego. It was known for its bright colors, architectural tricks, and odd spatial rhythms. It stood on 6.5 city blocks adjacent to the city's historic Gaslamp Quarter. Opening in 1985, it was the first successful downtown retail center since the rise of suburban shopping centers decades earlier. In August 2018, the property was sold to developer Stockdale Capital Partners, which plans to convert it into an office-retail complex. RDC is the architect of record. Nordstrom closed in 2016, leaving a vacant anchor store, and the other major anchor, Macy's, closed in Spring 2020. The mall was demolished starting in May 2020.

Swifton Center was a shopping mall in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Opened in 1956 as the first mall in the Cincinnati area, it was initially an open-air complex featuring Rollman & Sons department store as the sole anchor store. This store was converted to Mabley & Carew in 1960, and again to Elder-Beerman in 1978. The mall also contained a Franklin Simon & Co.. The mall had undergone a severe decline in tenancy by the early 1980s, and was renovated in 1985 by the Edward J. DeBartolo corporation as Swifton Commons. Despite initial success, the renovated mall underwent another severe decline in tenancy by the mid-1990s. Allen Temple AME Church bought the mall and renamed it to Jordan Crossing, replacing many of the inline tenants with offices. By 2013, the mall was demolished except for offices in the former location of Elder-Beerman.

Expansions were finished in 2008 and 2015, adding additional retailers and parking spaces.
OKC Outlets is a large outlet mall located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. OKC Outlets is 394,661 square feet (36,665.2 m2) in size, opened on August 5, 2011 and is one of the largest malls owned by The Outlet Resource Group (TORG). The mall was proposed to open in the fall of 2009, however plans were put on hold because of the economic recession of 2008. Construction began in July 2010. The total cost of the development was $50 million, with $3.9 million of infrastructure improvements paid for by the city of Oklahoma City. It was the largest retail investment of 2010, a down year in new retail construction.
