The Peace Project (also known as Christmas:The Peace Project) [2] [3] [4] is an album by Australian contemporary worship group Hillsong Worship and is the fifth Christmas-themed worship album from Hillsong Music,following We Have a Saviour (2012). Released on 20 October 2017 by Hillsong Music Australia and Capitol Christian Music Group,the album's production was spearheaded by Ben Tan and Michael Guy Chislett. [2] The album was nominated for the GMA Dove Award for Christmas / Special Event Album of the Year at the 49th Annual GMA Dove Awards. [5]
In the United Kingdom,The Peace Project debuted at No. 4 on the Official Christian &Gospel Albums Chart dated 2 November 2017. [6] It took the album seven weeks to reach No. 1,having registered at the top spot on the chart dated 14 December. [7]
In the United States,The Peace Project debuted on the Billboard Christian Albums chart dated 11 November 2017,at No. 26. [8] After two years and eight months since its release,the album made its debut at No. 122 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart dated 29 June 2019, [9] whilst peaking at No. 2 on the Christian Albums chart. Hillsong Music is Christian music produced by Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia as well as offshoot churches, Hillsong London, and Hillsong Kiev. Hillsong albums are released and distributed by Hillsong Music. The main groups are Hillsong Worship, Hillsong United, Hillsong Young & Free, and Hillsong Kids.
Hillsong United is a worship collective that originated as a part of Hillsong Church. Formed in 1998 as part of Hillsong's youth ministry, the band consists of several rotating worship leaders from the church, including Joel Houston, Taya Smith-Gaukrodger, Matt Crocker, Jonathon Douglass, Brooke Fraser, Jad Gillies and Benjamin Hastings. Due to several songs written by the youth ministry, Hillsong Worship leader Darlene Zschech recommended that they record an album, which resulted in their debut extended play, One, which was released alongside the Hillsong Worship album Touching Heaven Changing Earth. Since then, the group has released fourteen live albums, as well as five studio albums. The band composes songs and performs in church services as well as concerts in worldwide tours.
