The band became a transitional band between early hard rock and heavy metal and the new wave of British heavy metal. UFO's influence was strongly felt in the 1980s heavy metal scene and they have been cited as a primary influence of Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Joey Tempest of Europe, Frank Hannon of Tesla, and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, among others.

No Place to Run is the eighth studio album by English rock band UFO, released in January 1980 by Chrysalis Records. It was the band's first record to feature Paul Chapman, who replaced Michael Schenker on lead guitar.
Abandon is the sixteenth studio album by the English hard rock band Deep Purple, released in May 1998. It was Deep Purple's second album with Steve Morse on guitar and the last album to feature founding member Jon Lord prior to his departure in 2002.

Making Contact is the eleventh studio album by English hard rock band UFO, released in January 1983. It was their first album without founder and bassist Pete Way. UFO disbanded after an unsuccessful European tour and a few UK dates in 1983.
