Upukol Express (train no. 711/712) is an intercity train of Bangladesh which runs between Kamalapur railway station of Dhaka and Noakhali railway station of Noakhali. [1]
Upukol Express made its first inaugural run on January 17, 1986.

Upukol Express is usually hauled by a Class 2900 locomotive. Sometimes, Class 2600 or Class 2700 locomotives are also used. The train uses old yellow-green vacuum-braked coaches with a load of .
Being the only intercity train of Noakhali, Upukol Express is very popular among the people of that district. However, this train is criticized for poor quality of service and not maintaining schedule properly. [2]

Noakhali Sadar is an upazila of Noakhali District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Noakhali Thana was established in 1861 and was converted into an upazila in 1984. The upazila takes its name from the district and the Bengali word sadar (headquarters). It is the subdistrict where the district headquarters, Noakhali town, is located. The town is situated on the western bank of the Noakhali Canal, from which it takes its name. The Noakhali Canal was dug in 1660 to control flooding of the river Dakatia. The Maitree Express train, pronounced Moitree Express is the first modern day, fully air conditioned, international, express train service connecting Dhaka in Bangladesh to Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Bengali name Maitree Express means Friendship Express when translated to English, denoting the significance of the train service to the friendly foreign relations between India and Bangladesh. Previously train services between the two countries existed before the partition of India by the British and the Maitree Express re-established this connection between Dhaka and Kolkata in 2008 after being closed for 43 years. In 2017 a second train service, the Bandhan Express, was inaugurated connecting Kolkata with the Bangladeshi city of Khulna, recreating the previous Barisal Express train route.
