White Devil Armory is the 17th studio album by the American thrash metal band Overkill. It was released on July 18, 2014 in Europe through Nuclear Blast and July 22 in North America through eOne Music. [1] [2] [3]

White Devil Armory has received mostly positive reviews. AllMusic's Gregory Heaney awarded White Devil Armory three-and-a-half stars out of five, and called it "a monument to classic thrash that makes it clear the band's recent form is far from a fluke." He also stated that "the album finds the band once again going from strength to strength, pursuing their muse with a relentless vigor that imbues their sound with a refreshing directness". [4]
Reviewing the album for Get Your Rock Out, Michael Dodd cited the bass work of Verni as one of the record's strengths. He argued that Verni imbued the song "Bitter Pill" with "a heaviness that is almost industrial", and concluded that while the whole album is a "thrash juggernaut", it is the exploits of the bassist that make certain songs stand out. [8]
George Nisbet writing for All About The Rock said "If they can continue to release records of this calibre, then we've got some great music to look forward to. If you like quality thrash, you will absolutely love this!!". [6]
White Devil Armory was Overkill's most successful album; it peaked at number 31 on the Billboard 200, making it Overkill's highest chart position in their career and it sold 8,600 copies in its first week in the U.S. [9] [10] In its second week, the album sold over 2,850 copies in the U.S., bringing the sales to over 11,000 copies and dropping to number 99 on the Billboard 200. [11] On the third week, the album dropped to number 158 on the Billboard 200 and sold 1,850 copies, totalling over 13,000 copies sold in its first 3 weeks. [12] It won a 2014 Metal Storm Award for Best Thrash Metal Album. [13]

Overkill is an American thrash metal band, formed in 1980 in New Jersey. They have gone through many lineup changes, leaving bassist D.D. Verni and lead vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth as the only constant members. The band's current lineup includes Verni, Ellsworth, Dave Linsk on lead guitar, Derek Tailer on rhythm guitar and Jason Bittner on drums. Along with Nuclear Assault and Anthrax, the latter of whom would feature one-time Overkill lead guitarist Dan Spitz, the band is one of the most successful East Coast thrash metal bands, and they are often called "the Motörhead of thrash metal", based on their unique playing style, which was influenced by punk rock and the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM). The band has a notable mascot named "Chaly" who has appeared on many of their album covers.
The Years of Decay is the fourth studio album by thrash metal band Overkill, released on October 13, 1989 through Atlantic and Megaforce Records. It is the last Overkill album to feature guitarist Bobby Gustafson, who either left or was fired by the band amid a feud between himself and its founding members Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth (vocalist) and D. D. Verni (bassist). The Years of Decay was also the first of two Overkill albums produced by Terry Date, who took on the same role for their follow-up album Horrorscope (1991).
Under the Influence is the third studio album by thrash metal band Overkill, released on July 5, 1988 through Megaforce Records and Atlantic Records. This was Overkill's first album to feature drummer Sid Falck, who had replaced Rat Skates when the latter left the band in 1987 during the Taking Over tour.

ReliXIV is the 13th studio album by American thrash metal band Overkill, released in spring 2005. The reason the Roman numeral 14 is included in the title is because the band includes the Overkill EP in their lineup of studio albums, which would make this album the 14th by their chronology. It can also be because Overkill released the covers album Coverkill, which would have been their eleventh studio album. While this diction left it unclear how the title was to be pronounced, Blitz just mentioned it as "Relics" when announcing songs from the album on stage. The album produced the popular "Old School", which has been played at every Overkill show since it was first released. As of late 2007, ReliXIV sold over 16,000 copies in the U.S.
Immortalis is the 14th studio album by American thrash metal band Overkill. It was released in 2007 on Bodog Records. It is a pun of "Immortal15", and was preceded by Killbox 13 and ReliXIV. The album sold over 2,800 copies in its first week of release in the U.S and as of 2009, Immortalis sold over 15,000 copies in the U.S.

The Formation of Damnation is the tenth studio album by American thrash metal band Testament, released on April 29, 2008. It was Testament's first album since 2001's First Strike Still Deadly and their first of new material since 1999's The Gathering. It was also Testament's first release with original guitarist Alex Skolnick since 1992's The Ritual and bassist Greg Christian since 1994's Low, as well as the band's only studio album recorded with drummer Paul Bostaph, who joined Testament in 1993 but became a full-time member in 2007 before leaving the band four years later.

The album was produced by Andy Sneap, who mixed and engineered the band's previous three studio releases, The Gathering (1999), First Strike Still Deadly (2001), and The Formation of Damnation (2008). The album artwork was created by Eliran Kantor. A music video was made for the track "Native Blood". Dark Roots of Earth entered the Billboard 200 at number 12, Testament's highest position ever.

Winter Kills is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band DevilDriver. It was released on August 27, 2013, via Napalm Records. It is the only DevilDriver album to feature new bassist Chris Towning who was a touring member from 2012 until joining permanently in February 2013. Recording of instrumental parts took place at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida and the album was produced by Mark Lewis. The album is available in several different configurations which can include bonus tracks or a live DVD. It would be DevilDriver's last album with founding members John Boecklin and Jeff Kendrick before both of them left the band in October 2014.

Brotherhood of the Snake is the twelfth studio album by American thrash metal band Testament, released on October 28, 2016. It is the band's first studio recording with bassist Steve Di Giorgio since First Strike Still Deadly (2001). It is the last Overkill album with drummer Ron Lipnicki, who left the band shortly after its release and was replaced by Jason Bittner for the album's tour and its follow-up The Wings of War (2019).
