Professor William Otoo Ellis is a Ghanaian academic and a former Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. [1] He is a product of Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary in Koforidua.
He started his basic school education at the Airport Police Basic Schools. He then continued to the St. John's Grammar School where he obtained his General Certificate Examination (GCE)/ Ordinary Level Certificate in 1979. He had his Sixth Form education at the Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary at Effiduase,Koforidua,completing in 1981. He was admitted into the then University of Science and Technology (UST) in 1982 and completed in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science,Second Class Upper Division in Biochemistry (after a year's shut down between 1982 and 1983 due to students' unrest).
He undertook his National Service at the Department of Biochemistry from 1987 to 1989 as a Teaching and Research Assistant with responsibilities for practical work,tutorial classes and research activities of the Faculty Members. In 1989,he obtained a Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Scholarship to undertake postgraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal,Canada. Professor Ellis entered the Masters' programme in Food Science at the Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry. Following his exceptional academic performance in the first year,he was granted the option to enrol in the PhD programme after passing all the requisite Entrance Examinations. Professor Ellis completed his Doctor of Philosophy programme in Food Science in 1993.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is a public University of Ghana that focuses on science and technology. The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is the public university established in the country,as well as the largest university in the Kumasi Metropolis and in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. KNUST has its roots in the plans of Agyeman Prempeh I,a ruler of the Ashanti Kingdom,to establish a university in Kumasi as part of his drive towards modernization of his Ashanti kingdom. This plan never came to fruition due to the clash between British empire expansion and the desire for King Prempeh I to preserve his Ashanti kingdom's independence.
Koforidua,also popularly known as K-dua or Koftown,is a city and the capital of Eastern Region in southern Ghana. Koforidua was founded in 1875 by migrants from Ashanti. It is also called New Juaben. The city has a settlement city proper population of 183,727 people as of 2010,Koforidua is an amalgamation of two Municipalities;New Juaben North and South. A medical laboratory scientist (MLS) or clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) or medical technologist (MT) performs diagnostic testing of blood and body fluids in clinical laboratories. The scope of a medical laboratory scientist's work begins with the receipt of patient or client specimens and terminates with the delivery of test results to physicians and other healthcare providers. The utility of clinical diagnostic testing relies squarely on the validity of test methodology. To this end,much of the work done by medical laboratory scientists involves ensuring specimen quality,interpreting test results,data-logging,testing control products,performing calibration,maintenance,validation,and troubleshooting of instrumentation as well as performing statistical analyses to verify the accuracy and repeatability of testing. Medical laboratory scientists may also assist healthcare providers with test selection and specimen collection and are responsible for prompt verbal delivery of critical lab results. Medical Laboratory Scientist in health settings also play an important role in the diagnosis of diseses conditions. An estimated 70% of medical decisions are based on laboratory test results and MLS contributions affect 95% of a health system's costs.
The KNUST Department of Planning (DOP) is one of the academic departments at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi,Ghana. It is under the KNUST College of Architecture and Planning. The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the award of a degree. It is the only institution in Ghana professionally recognized by its government to train personnel to promote,coordinate and manage development at the national and sub-national levels.
Kwasi Kwarfo Adarkwa,Ph.D is a Ghanaian academic and the a past Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). In 2008,he was selected by then President of Ghana,John Kufuor,for a national award in the field of academics.
Kwesi Akwansah Andam was a Ghanaian academic and former Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He was a professor of engineering. He died on 14 December 2007 at the 37 Military Hospital.
The Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Angela Palmer- Buckle is a Ghanaian Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church,a former teacher and a key figure in the political scene in Ghana. He is currently the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast and is the second Ghanaian native to become Archbishop of Accra. Installed in 2005,he became the 4th Ordinary for Accra since its establishment as a diocese. He was also the first Bishop of Koforidua.
Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary,is an all-boys boarding school,located at Effiduase,Koforidua,in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It was established in 1958 by Bishop Joseph Oliver Bowers SVD as a Catholic seminary for boys who wished to become priests. Students are offered courses such as general arts,general science,business and visual arts to pursue and after their stay in the school,sit an external examination called the West African Senior School Certificate Examination to be placed in any of the tertiary institutions in the country.
The Ridge Church School is an independent and parochial co-educational preparatory day school in Accra,Ghana. Situated between the Gamel Abdul Nasser Avenue and Guinea Bissau Road and opposite the Efua Sutherland Children's Park,it was founded by the Accra Ridge Church in 1957,the year of Ghana's independence from the United Kingdom. The Ridge Church School is located on the premises of the church. It was the first wholly private basic school to be established in modern Ghana. The Accra Ridge Church was the first international solely English-speaking Protestant church in Ghana. The school is inter-denominational Christian,holding ties to the Anglican,Methodist and Presbyterian churches,that assign chaplains to both the church and school. The school runs a ten–year programme from kindergarten to lower primary through upper primary to junior high and culminating in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
