Yarra Valley Water is the largest of three Victorian Government owned retail water corporations that provides drinking water and sewerage services to over two million people and over 58,000 businesses in the northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The water distributed by Yarra Valley Water is supplied by Melbourne Water, as is the infrastructure. Oversight is provided by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. [1]

Yarra Valley Water's district covers approximately 4,000 square kilometres from as far north as Wallan and extending to Warburton in the east. Yarra Valley Water owns and maintains over 10,000 km of water mains and over 9,800 km of sewer mains. [1]

Yarra Valley Water's activities are overseen by an independent Board of Directors appointed by the Victorian Government. Yarra Valley Water's head office is situated in Mitcham and employs around 600 staff. [1]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Warburton Highway</span>

The Warburton Highway is a 34 kilometre west–east semi-rural highway starting on the eastern fringes of Melbourne, Victoria (Australia) at the Maroondah Highway just after Lilydale, connecting Melbourne to the Yarra Valley wine region and its towns, as well as Melbourne's closest mountain peak to receive regular snowfall, Mount Donna Buang. The entire road falls within the Shire of Yarra Ranges local government area and is wholly managed by VicRoads. It is a single carriageway for its entire length, being completely sealed since 1941, with one lane in each direction and occasional overtaking lanes being provided. Speed limits range from 50 to 60 km/h through townships and 70–80 km/h elsewhere. Because of the lack of the standard 100 km/h rural speed limit and high traffic volumes, Victoria Police maintain a high level of patrol and vigilance.

Melba Highway connects the outer eastern suburb of Coldstream, near Lilydale, and the town of Yea, in Victoria's Upper Goulburn on the Goulburn Valley Highway. The road is named after Dame Nellie Melba, a famed Australian opera singer of the early 20th century, whose former country estate lies at the southern end of the highway, at the junction of the Melba and Maroondah highways in Coldstream.

The O'Shannassy Reservoir is an Australian man-made water supply dammed reservoir. The 3.123 GL water store across the O'Shannassy River is located near the locality of McMahons Creek, approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi) east of Melbourne, Victoria. The dam that creates the impoundment is called the O'Shannassy Dam.

City West Water Corporation was a Government of Victoria retail water corporation that provided drinking water, sewerage, trade waste and recycled water services in the Melbourne central business district, inner and western suburbs. The service area included the local government areas of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Moonee Valley, Wyndham, Yarra and parts of Melton and Hume.
